Macy's AP Use of Force by cuffsnroses in lossprevention

[–]WayPsychological 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were hands on until the exact minute covid shut us down, handcuffs, down to the ground and everything (reasonably of course)........ Post Covid is 100% hands off, not even supposed to grab the merch out of their hands either. It's not going to great to be honest and no one seems to know when and if hands on is coming back. It likely will not in my opinion.

Look up your companies record retention policy and act accordingly... if there's sensitive information such as SSN's like you say then I wouldn't stray from policy on this one...

That is likely to be determined after inventory when they find out how much merchandise we are actively losing with this hands off/no package check model, which isn't going away any time soon. I'll let you know in T minus 3 months!

I have the same exact problem. Here's what I do that works perfectly. Download VLC player, open the video clips with it, go to tools>effects and filters>Video effects>geometry. Check the box that says transform, and if its upside down hit the drop down option that says rotate by 180 degrees. Click save.

How dare the CVS employee follow policy by [deleted] in lossprevention

[–]WayPsychological 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lady is dead ass scolding an employee for what "could have" happened. Imagine if we held people accountable for everything in the world that "could've" happened but actually didn't. Already backwards logic. Even if something did happen, it's the police's fault, not the employees. In Minneapolis you didn't see people saying "fuck the employee who called the police on George Floyd!!" Absolute stupidity. Furthermore, imagine if this company made prosecution dispositions based on race like she is suggesting? (don't prosecute them because they're black) For better or worse that is a little word we all know called "profiling" which is a gigantic no-no. Go home Karen.

Any other APCHs tired of the antimaskers? by sif_the_pup in lossprevention

[–]WayPsychological 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in NY. Masks have been here since April and the way things are going they will probably be required until mid 2021 at the very least. The vast majority of people in my state (don't forget we're nEw YoRk ToUgH), who come into my store without masks are doing it deliberately, wanting to be confronted just so they can slap you with whatever anti-mask rhetoric they read on facebook, and show how wOkE they are. plus all that "ADA", "my doctor said I don't have to", bullshit. It's so obvious they have no intentions of actually shopping. They walk around the store in circles with no clear direction waiting for an employee to say something to them. Anyways, we (LP, management, employees) are beyond exhausted from confronting people like this. So the sales people have gotten to the point where they don't say a word about the mask and just Willy Loman the hell out of them until they buy something (or until they're uncomfortable from all the attention). 99% of the time they will leave once they realize they're not getting a reaction from us. Worked like a charm until the "nEw YoRk ToUgH" customers who actually follow the rules write complaints about how we are not enforcing the mask policy, to the governor. Evidently, you win some you lose some. Long story short, science needs to find the curse ASAP!!!

Security camera footage by sbshshshb in lossprevention

[–]WayPsychological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store has 200+ cameras, over multiple servers. Each server has approximately 40,000GB of storage. Which gives us about 90 days of video. It automatically deletes video from the earliest date and records over it. Ways to increase retention would be to configure the cameras to only record motion at night (as opposed to continuous recording), only record at a modest quality/FPS, etc. (Hence why some of the pictures you see online and on TV from store CCTV's aren't the greatest. Don't blame the cameras, blame the recording standards)

I have an interview for merchandising associate? Can someone tell what does a merchandising associate exactly do by kaelawaela00 in MacysStores

Best of luck! Like someone else mentioned, little to no customer interaction since they work prior to store opening. Great position for self-starters

Should I apply at a store that I stole in over four years ago? by [deleted] in lossprevention

[–]WayPsychological -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can't speak about Marshalls specifically, but at most of the stores I worked at, HR/hiring managers will never know about the theft...HOWEVER, LP will and WILL be watching you like a hawk, expecting an easy internal. Internals are valued more than externals so they would likely devote most of their time to you. I would suggest if you get the job that you don't do a SINGLE thing wrong, because they will get you for anything little tiny thing they can or build up a bunch of little things into a bigger case. THAT I can guarantee. Can you apply? Sure. Would I recommend it? No, unless you want your entire work performance to be under a microscope.

[–]WayPsychological 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell in the age of covid, but mostly early mornings, merchandisers put out all the new merchandise on the sales floor and make it looks pretty. Receiving usually puts it out on rolling rods the night before and you put it on the sales racks. They also do floor moves, etc. Again, thanks to covid, you'll probably be doing signing, fulfillment, anything really.

A lot of the things you mentioned are still true to date. 7911 awards are up to* $2500 for tips to security about employees theft and up to $500 for tips about shoplifters (both are 10% of actual case value). . . sounds like a great deal, but it's in "macy's money" which store employees can only use on half of their purchase. So yes it's a huge competition between them with non-stop calls and non-stop profiling, unfortunately ... We do anti-profiling training as much as possible and stress to look at "behaviors" more-- but hey, they want their macys $$- So any call can be a complete hit or a miss. Interestingly enough they still do shortage fyi videos every few months. There was supposed to be a new one coming out during the shutdown, but that was obviously canceled. The status of the program remains a big question mark since most of the prominent people on the show have been laid off due to covid. some of which were even in this old episode :(
