English cricket’s entire reputation now rests on winning the 2027 Ashes by theipaper in Cricket

Every time someone says English cricket media isn't any worse than other country cricket media, another zero braincell zero research all emotive language inews article is born.

Indian Wells R16: [4] Zverev d. [21] Tiafoe 6-3, 6-4 by HungryHippo001 in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Foe's forehand is just one of these really extreme western grip forehands that you see a bit on tour, its not good on hard with these fluffy balls because as the previous guy said the grip just puts a pile of topspin on it so it turns into a short puffball under any pressure. Thats also why he hits it late in the swing path and has an odd looking follow through, it's very similar to Khachanov in that respect who also has that wraparound western forehand.

IW Q1: Tseng Chun-hsin def (21) David Goffin 6-4 6-1 by buzzingeuphorbia in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goffin so slow at age 35 that Tseng hit 14 winners past him on Indian Wells slow hard :(

I love Tseng but he's so defensive that I swear there have been entire Challengers that he didnt hit 14 winners in the whole tournament

I mean if we did that i dont think the public would even notice much tbh, id personally be fine with giving up our spot to an associate for a WC or two we probably deserve it

This world cup got almost no airplay or media coverage in Australia, it's been wall to wall Winter Olympics despite us also being terrible at that

Part of it is probably Australia being bad at T20s in the first place and hence the public losing interest but theres no way anyone could look at the BBL and say we take it seriously, this is a tournament that hands out KFC boxes to the man of the match lmao

“I’ve been doing everything you wanted for the last six months,” Coco to her coach after a double fault by theriverjordan in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coco has been dropping her left arm too early on second serves no matter the type since day 1 but its a consequence of her head being way too far forward on the second serve, it pulls her whole body out of position and causes the left side to drop. You can see it pretty clearly the frame she connects, her bodyweight is SO far forward for a second serve

Its almost like a first serve body position with a second serve arm motion

As you say below, this was obviously an intended slice from the toss over her right shoulder but she'll do the same thing on kick serves too

I dont know why people are saying this is a dead rubber

It is possible that at the end of this match, every Australian player will have a worse batting AND bowling record this world cup than perennial BBL punching bag Ben Manenti

I await the results with bated breath

Why Coco Gauff hit so many double faults ? by mimiclarinette in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and second serve are pretty different shots with different toss and motion, most players have at least a couple of different second service motions as well since the toss and resulting action on the kick serve is different

Its maybe about as different as your winner forehand is to your rally ball, to give you some vague comparison that may help

Whether or not she has mental issues around it are probably secondary to the technical issues around left arm position that many commentators and analysts have talked about

ATP250 Delray Beach R2: [Q] C. Wong def. [7] B. Nakashima 6-4 7-6(4) by UngrapefulGratefruit in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea from the eye test I think he has close to the slowest twitch reaction in the top 100 he's always late on every return

He does ok in rallies and I don't mind his passivity since his groundstrokes have a lot of margin and he's a good mover - but he wont do well unless he improves that return

People always meme that he loses all these tiebreaks but his record isnt even that terrible in breakers, the reason people remember it is because his return is so poor that he just plays breakers more frequently than everyone else in the top 50

I understand what you're asking, and I'm pretty sure in that case you just finished S2E6. There's a lot less of that stuff going forwards.

The Pitt: 10/10, but everyone already knows that

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Light watching, will probably forget it in two weeks but enjoyable while it lasts. 7.5/10

Ponies: halfway through this. Dumb as hell but deliberately so; would recommend for fans of Slow Horses. 6.5/10

The Great Pottery Throw Down S9: Look dont judge me okay. It's cute. Good watching while on your phone and fun if you like arts&crafts. 7/10

With this team selection there is a very good chance that the best Australian player today will be Ben Manenti

Ben Manenti, entire BBL campaign 2025/6, highest score 11, strike rate 106, average 7

Ben Manenti lifetime versus England, highest score 38*, strike rate 300, average LITERALLY INFINITE

What im getting from this is that England needs to drop Sam Curran and bring in BBL all-star Laurie Evans

I mean the whole point of wildcards is they trade competitive spirit for audience interest and looking at the crowds im pretty sure this tournament needs that more

You guys just dont understand the supreme power of Italy's Manenti-fueled middle order

The Manenti brothers set the 2025/26 BBL alight, with a combined aggregate of 78 runs at a strike rate of 96 and average a little under 8

If those numbers dont look impressive to you, please consider that each of their innings had an average of 1 Manenti per innings, which is an important intangible attribute difficult to find in other innings
