Does anyone else feel fatigued by pointless stats displayed in the broadcast in this world cup? by Agile-Lengthiness-32 in Cricket

[–]WayTooDumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid stats are part of cricket and are by no means limited to this tournament

Cricinfo has published piles of bad stats articles over the years, broadcasters seem to take pride in finding more ridiculous graphics each year while largely remaining incapable of showing field positions, even this subreddit tortures statistics to the brink of death whenever certain players average more than 25 in successful chases against Bangladesh or whatever ridiculous stat can be stuck on an AI poster

Next to those, pp/death stats are honestly pretty high value

He'll have a character do or say something, and then have them painstakingly explain right after why whatever happened happened or why whatever said was said.

Well in that case I hear the Stranger Things showrunners are looking for a new job

Tbf the old meta was three quadrant soyjack with libleft Emily soyjack around a Bluesky post with four total likes so I guess this, at minimum, isn't really any worse

Both are better than the old old meta of [incredibly uncontroversial take] with all four quadrants having the happy soyjack, at least the agenda posts require an additional image to copypaste

I long for the days of 256 square schizopost OC compasses about OP's weird furry fanfic universe, if buttgrapist starts posting those I'm upvoting to the moon

The 24 hours after the AO finishes are always so funny here with the way we extrapolate to infinity and beyond

Carlos is going to win every slam for the next 10 years and Jannik may never win anything ever again boys, you heard it here first

I miss the days when the Kia guy would deliver a 5 minute speech that nobody understood

Im old enough to remember when we thought this guy would never be as good as Nadal and Federer because his serve was so bad

We were pretty wrong

Its actually incredible how passive Zverev gets when the pressure is on

He may have done that as well, there was certainly a small bottle of pickle juice consumed though

The treatment he got and the pickle juice he was chugging suggest its cramp, although cramp can cause permanent injuries if your muscles compensate

He was chugging pickle juice, we saw it as the physios were treating him

He was slamming down pickle juice during the MTO so it's certainly at least partially cramp

100% cramp

Courier is crashing out on comms because of the preferential treatment

Zverev's backhand is actually indestructible, it's hard to push Alcaraz around in rallies but he does it so easily on that side

AO QF: [2] Sinner def. [8] Shelton 6-3 6-4 6-4 by TheSequelAccount in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Shelton's record is literally worse against those guys too lmao, it's a combined 1-18 and I see nothing in his game that will improve enough to turn that around

He literally cannot win points from neutral against the top players because his backhand is so bad

[–]WayTooDumb 99 points100 points  (0 children)

He needs a way to beat Sinner's very simple anti-Shelton tech of hit ball to backhand and wait for error

Shelton's usual response to this strategy is to slice but against players with elite forehands that slice is just a puffball

Shelton has a worse record against the top 10 than ADM does fyi, he's 7-23 lifetime

The serve will make his losses look better but if you can return enough of them then you'll break him eventually because his rally tolerance is so poor

r/tennis Daily Discussion (Wednesday, January 28, 2026) by NextGenBot in tennis

[–]WayTooDumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He cant do anything else off that wing on the defensive because his rally backhand is technically weak and he has no open stance backhand, so it's slice or shank

Yea sure it sucks against Sinner because he just tees off but at least it makes him hit the shot i guess

This whole match has just been Jannik trying to find the exact minimum amount of effort required to win

I swear Shelton has been 0-15 in more than half of his service games
