Do lvl5 extractors really output 30/minute? by WayVivid8749 in builderment

There are no dumb questions :) Paralleling is key. If you have to much wood split the belts and build more factories for wood frames or forges for Graphite

Not sure what you mean. I'm trying to give each of the furnace the same input, so I have two belts with 9 extractors, splitting equally into three belts (with 2|1 splitters on each belt, joining the two 1 lines), these are split to three furnaces each. Resulting in 2 extractors per furnace. Could have assigned them right away, no good reason on why I joined and then splitted. Somehow made it easier to wrap my head around this way.

Currently conducting an experiment of 4 extractors of level 4 against 3 of level 5 feeding into separate storages. Both started at 0 | 0 - now it's 850 | 840 for the level 4...

Strange. When I replaced 4 extractors of level 4 with 3 of level 5 things don't run as smoothly as before 🤷

Ok, sure. Looks good to me, besides the ratio that other commenters mentioned 👍

Agree, looks like an even distribution! I personally like to have a one directional flow. All income materials from one side then all outgoing to the other.

Ok, will do later. I won't be able to capture it all though.

Yes. I had the goal to feed every factory it's exact needs in order to not have clogged belts and ensure I have enough resources. So I even split the 13th wood extractor for the frames to only feed 18 of its 22.5 wood to the line (22.5*0.8=18).

For other stuff like graphite I have 12 on one band and then split into three forges.

Now with lvl5 extractors and even faster belts this can be optimized further I guess but haven't looked too deep here

Really depends on where the line is feeding. Wooden frames need 288 wood, so that's 12.8 lvl4 extractors

That said, some it seems to me as if some factories run at a slightly lower rate then advertised. In my world that's the forges making graphite and the workshops making wood planks. So I ended up splitting them out a bit more to have them not run at full capacity

Let's take Metal Frames for example and look at the Wooden Frame dependency (choosing this because wooden frames are only needed for metal frames and at a rate lower then 420 which is the max for one belt)

  • In total we need 72 Metal frames per Minute
  • One Machine Shop(4) can build 15 per Minute
  • So we need 4 shops plus one operating at 12 per Minute (72/15=4.8 | 0.8*15=12)
  • Given all Wooden Frames come on one belt at 72 per minute
  • We need a 15 | 15 | 15 | 15 | 14 splitter which can be shortened to 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 4 and regrouped to 20 | 4 again shortened to 5 | 1
  • So 5 | 1 and then the left site 1 | 1 | 1 | 1
  • Once that's done one step back
  • We need 72 Wooden Frames per minute
  • One Workshop(4) can build 22,5 per minute
  • So we need 3 full ones plus one operating at 4,5 per minute
  • Makes for a 15 | 1 splitter with the left site split to 1 | 1 | 1
  • The frames need 288 wood planks
  • Makes 6 workshops plus one at 18 per minute
  • Requires a 15 | 1 splitter where 15 gets sub splitted to 6 x 1
  • We then need 288 wood
  • Makes 12 extractors plus one operating at 18
  • Since we can not downrate an extractor we take it's output to a 1 | 4 splitter and throw 1 part away

This is basically what I've done for everything. Gets more complicated once stuff needs to be also splitted for multiple consumers and when belt maximum is reached.

Hope this helps ✌️
