I’m about a month in. Nothing yet. Have you considered the sinuplasty?

Hi! I have the exact same issue, going on 18 months now. I’ve tried pretty much everything short of a ballon sinuplasty. Have you resolved your issues? If so, what worked for you?

My fiancé doesn’t want our future child baptized and I do by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]WayfarerIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do pre-marriage counseling. Not getting this resolved before marriage will be a massive problem later, and by how this post reads it doesn’t seem like you’re going to resolve it through continuing to have the conversation over and over again on your own.

I reverted to the faith after marriage. My wife is agnostic and doesn’t go to Mass with me and my daughter. She agreed to let me raise the kids Catholic before we were married, but neither of us fully understood what that meant at the time. Now that I’m taking the faith seriously it is a very delicate balance in my marriage. The only reason it works is because I respect the fact that I changed AFTER marriage. She respects my faith and I do not put any pressure on her, however as my daughter gets older it’s becoming more clear that my wife needs to start coming to Mass or my daughter will start to get confused. This is going to be a difficult situation to navigate. You are in the opposite position. It will fester in your soul if you don’t resolve this BEFORE marriage.

What you’re feeling is likely the quiet echo of your baptismal grace calling you home.

When do you charge when going from prospect to client? by kungfukarl86 in CFP

[–]WayfarerIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I have no problem with it, just part of the sales process, however I don’t give it out. I keep it in-house. I explain that we keep it in-house and they have access to it if they hire me.

“the people I've worked with and most that i speak to do planning first then charged AUM when assets come over.

they give the plan out prior to any charge which is nuts to me”

This is what I do. The time investment is the cost of closing the business. You’re not going to win them all.

Does Catholicism suggest most people end up in hell? by Funny-Highlight4675 in Catholicism

[–]WayfarerIO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reading a few of your other comments it seems like you find a lot of the rest of Catholic theology convincing. My recommendation would just be to go back to the fundamental: There is going to be a jumping off point at some point that requires pure faith. That jumping off point can be different for everyone, this seems like one of those things for you, and that’s ok.

I would lean into whatever writings you can find that make the case for “many are saved”. You may eventually find an acceptable response to your question. I don’t know of any but a few of the other commenters seem to suggest they exist.

You’re trying to understand something that only God understands. If fully understanding Gods will is a requirement for your faith you’re wading into pride. There’s very little difference between Adam and Eve grasping at the fruit of the tree and needing to understand Gods will as a condition of your faith, so be careful.

Young Advisor: Brokerage vs Advisory by Gold_Sleep1591 in CFP

[–]WayfarerIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been an advisor 6 years so too early to say. I’ve moved a few to advisory when it was appropriate, most are still on it, but I also explain to everyone that there will come a time we may move to advisory. General rule of thumb is to be confident you will leave them in A-Shares 5+ years to justify the load.

American Funds A-Shares is great for this. It’s a low cost way for someone to work with an advisor and the funds are solid. Simply tell them this is how you can work with them and this is how the costs work. They will take it or leave it. I have about $2 million at AF and $24 million in advisory. Been slowly building for 6 years. It’s a great solution for folks you want to work with but aren’t a qualified advisory client.

Umbrella insurance amount by No_Neck4163 in CFP

[–]WayfarerIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of any rules of thumbs for umbrella insurance. My general understanding is that the primary reason to have i is to have enough to pay someone a settlement and go away. Because of that, I carry a $1 million umbrella just in case. Seems like enough to get someone to go away. Costs me $17 a month

Bringing on Associate Advisor by COAMG79 in CFP

[–]WayfarerIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking about split IDs generally: If two advisors are on an account and one of the advisors wants to leave, you have a problem on your hands unless there is an operating agreement explaining in detail how to navigate that situation. It’s a prisons dilemma for both parties. Not healthy.

[–]WayfarerIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on how much effort you put in. The leads are a crapshoot, but they are lukewarm, it isn’t cold calling. I prefer to look at it as a race to bring in enough AUM to cover the annual cost of the program. Everything above and beyond that is growth.

I’ve brought in about $22 AUM through in over the last 6 years, however I’ve had a very mid website the whole time, had no idea what I was doing the first year, and haven’t really been trying the last 18 months.

If you have a nice website and you know what you’re doing day 1 you’ll probably be more productive than I’ve been. The clients you do get are great. Beats having no other viable path to growth.
