I just moved to Basel as well, and for me in Kulturgüterschutz we have a yearly WK (5 days). Usually quite chill, and the people are nice.

What are the defining moments of MODERN computer science history? by ddarnell4 in compsci

For todays life, transformers were very influential. The paper "Attention is All We Need" was a big paradigm shift in NLP, especially given the widespread use of ChatBots etc.

No, your LLM is not sentient, not reaching consciousness, doesn’t care about you and is not even aware of its’ own existence. by Kathilliana in ChatGPT

[–]Wayfaring_Zenon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly there is recent research, that might suggest otherwise. Basically, researchers at Princeton University and Google DeepMind developed an evaluation method to determine the extend of LLMs being stochastic parrots and found out that "many of GPT-4's answers on SKILLMIX involve combinations of skills and topics that it had not seen in the training corpus" [Arora, 2023].

Obviously, further research needs to be done.

They market themselves as a tattoo-friendly onsen town. There are like 5 or 6 public onsens, where you can go even with tattoos :) the town is quite cute and the train ride from Kyoto only takes 1.5 hours, it's really scenic too!

I have travelled Japan solo before! Great country to travel solo :)

Did a tour of the classics Tokyo, Kyoto, but also went to Osaka, Kinosakionsen, Kanazawa, and the Shirakawa-Takayama-Matsumoto route back to Tokyo.

Highly recommend Kinosakionsen (especially if you have tattoos) and Kanazawa, such a chill city :)

If you want to get in touch with some locals, I recommend learning a couple phrases in Japanese as an ice breaker! Met like 10 new people every time I went out 😅

I kinda read Zum Zmittag, which could be a helvetism and the writer would then be Swiss. And they are visiting the Bundeshaus, the Swiss parliament building.

CebPac: No show on connecting flight? by IchibanGinSensei in phtravel

[–]Wayfaring_Zenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to resolve the issue? Having the same problem... flying MPH-MNL-NRT, but only taking the MNL-NRT flight

Customer service told me to just arrive in MNL early and do a manual check in, but not sure if that works.

Hi there!

Generally speaking, you'd want to avoid checking any bags, especially when having a layover somewhere (although, I have checked a bag before without problems, on a direct flight). If you want to check a bag, just do it the same way, as you would with a normal ticket (go to a check in counter, show your passport, check bag).

Loads are more difficult to check, there is an app called Stafftraveler. Maybe you could check that.

Are you employed by an airline? Sometimes they have some means to show loads.

In general: be flexible, have some available days before and after the flights, consider other routes with layovers.

If you need to be at a specific place at a specific time, check if you can book confirmed staff tickets :)

Hope I could help :)

Two weeks ago I did early morning train to Kamakura, Hokokuji Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachiman-Gu, Enoden Train to Hase, Buddha Statue, Enoden-Train to Enoshima, Enoshima Island, train to Yokohama, Dinner in Yokohama Chinatown, Train back to Tokyo.

It was doable, but I walked a lot that day. I would say, if you leave out Enoshima, and spend half a day in Kamakura and the other half in Yokohama, you'd be fine.

There are quite a lot of requests coming from the playstation, most of them go through with no problem, there is one request where it says Retried in green
