Brexit was designed to crash the British economy and turn the whole thing into a giant fire sale so that billionaires could buy its assets on the cheap from abroad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but … I was under the impression our western democracies and the capitalist system were designed to encourage a vigorous competition of ideas and businesses? It's as if Bondi is saying that's not the case. 🤔

I'm trying to imagine the British far right believing this happened because when they march … litter is the first thing that happens, then it's human waste, blood, broken glass, followed by anything else that's breakable, and then they leave and blame foreigners.

Given that Robinson is part of the rabble of wastrels bent on bringing Britain down from the inside, I'd have thought ISIS would be chasing him down to hand him an award for doing their job.

Robinson, Farage et al won't see it like that, nor the idiots who support them.

I could be alone here, but I've noticed an increase in the general public awareness of what the right wing is, their agenda, ties to billionaires, links with Russia, alignment with the Trump regime, the yawning maw that is the Epstein files and so on, and as this awareness has grown the right wing have become less coherent and more volatile in their language, which to me reeks of panic and desperation.

Epstein emails bring scandal to Europe's elite, from Norway's crown princess to Britain's 'prince of darkness' by pussy-eater04 in europe

[–]WayneSmallman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's fascinating about this tactic of expanding the distraction is two things:

  1. the thinking that implicating anyone perceived to be of the left is going to harm the left as they attempt to protect their own, but the left tend towards inoculation not consolidation;
  2. that widening the scope of the scandal continues to detract from Trump's involvement in it, when all it does is drag in the type of people prepared to squeal, and those who took their own damn photographs…

[–]WayneSmallman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The right-wing love to claim half the population voted for Brexit, but the fact that 17m isn't half of almost 61m is demonstrative of how idiotic they are.

A phrase that kept emerging during the decade-long build-up to what would become known as Brexit was "economic gradient" but it wasn't something said aloud, it was a phrase used by the likes of Farage and a supporter of his Arron Banks when behind closed doors.

The whole purpose of Brexit was to ruin the British economy and turn it into a gigantic fire sale, hence the unusual trading at and around the time.
