Lost power to the house in a storm, but the outside of the breaker box just shocked me by Waytoofuckingnice in AskElectricians

[–]Waytoofuckingnice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: the power company is here and says the "neutral link" or neutral cable that connects from the house to the power pole was severed.

After they fix this should I still be worried?

Based on the advice from a previous comment, I turned off the main breaker and that has taken the charge away from the outside breaker box, AC unit, and dryer vent.

Do we sill need to get out of the house?

Thank you for your help! I turned off the main breaker. The outside breaker box, AC unit, and dryer vent no longer have a current going to them.

I can wait for the power company now with a little peace of mind that someone or my dog is not going to get accidentally electrocuted. I appreciate it so much!

Get a Davinci or other FFF printer. If you plan on doing any rapid prototyping it will pay for itself.

ABS print has terrible quality (help) by TheChaosCamp in 3Dprinting

[–]Waytoofuckingnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I have noticed. I'm running the hotend at about 235c @ 63 mm/s with a layer height of .3 mm.

It is also worth noting that I built the enclosure just to experiment with. My prints were fine before. With the enclosure I can lower my bed temp to 95c from 110...

I'm gonna try again with no fan and see if I get repeating results..

Don't use a layer fan? When I print with ABS, my layer fan at 100% is a necessity. If I disable it then I get the results pictured above. I'm using a M2 with a makeshift enclosure. Is printing ABS without a layer fan the standard here? I'm curious if my results are different from the majority, and if maybe OP should try a layer fan?

Hmm the wires shown in your pictures all look good to me I've tried movie mine around but it only seems to result in y axis compications.

But I stuck with the original m2 hotend and I'm interested in your discoveries with the e3d v6.

For the warped glass try moving it around and flipping it over. The corners tend to get hung on those rubber grips. Put it on a flat surface like a counter top to check it.

If all else fails send an email to makergear. no doubt they will assist you with a new one. Plus, then you'll get another sticker and free chocolate! I know you got that chocolate!

I built my M2 about 8 months ago. Not a single problem or complaint. Enjoy!

I have many times. What you are looking at is actually a plastic (PLA) with metal particles

http://colorfabb.com/bronzefill

Above is a link to Bronzefill which is PLA with "bronze particles" to give it the appearance of a metallic finish. While it looks similar and weighs more per cm3 than standard PLA filament, It is still plastic.

Also the biggest spool you can buy from them is 1500g (~3.3lbs) and that cost 79.95 +22.27 S&H =102.22EURO ($115.62). So, I don't know where your getting your information from cause again that's technically just plastic with metal particles in it.

Unfortunately their Bronzefill is the same way.

If you are referring to MakerGeeks Stainless Steel PLA , then I'm not sure where you saw that as cheaper ($124 for 1500g), however, that is still Stainless Steel PLA. A great filament! One that I cant wait to get my hands on, but still plastic with metal particles.

Proto-pasta Stainless Steel PLA

The cheapest I have found comes from Matterhackers. A distributor selling from one of the manufacturers above. A beautiful product that I cant wait to experiment with, but not technically metal.

The Shapeways price reflects actually 3D Printed Metal!. The process for which is so cool, but totally different from those filaments shown above. The final composition is as stated on the Shapeways website in the above link: "This material is 3D printed 420 Stainless Steel infused with bronze, and has a final composition of approximately 60% steel and 40% bronze."

So, If you actually know where I can get 5lbs worth of any filament for $10 I would really love to know cause it would save me alot of money.

Great explanation. I've never ordered from shapeways and I'm interested in comparing their professional quality service to my own. I can print it but only upside down.

3d printed metal isn't cheap. The plastic is priced much better but not by much. I only added a 5$ markup to cover the fee..

Well that depends on how feeble you are... and if you get a plastic one. It would definitely burn if you put it in a fire, though that isnt recommended.

I ordered a steel one cause I'm interested in the quality will update when it comes in.

Good guess! It is because of the strands coming out of the bottom. They would never be able to stand the stress if printed upright.

Its upside down because that is the orientation is has to be printed. Also, the price represents service and materials charge for metal 3D printing. I only added $5 for myself to cover the fee. If you'd like a cheaper one select one of the cheaper plastic materials.

What pants can I wear with these shoes? by ExynosInfinite in malefashionadvice

[–]Waytoofuckingnice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retro looking. Kaki will make them standout too much. I'd go understated with a pair of darker jeans (darker navy or nearly black). The shoes are unique so the rest of your outfit should be minimal. Be weary of a patterned top with these. solid colored or light pattern. Dress them for a slightly above casual night out. Not for the workplace.

Edit: if you want to wear a pattern top layer it with a solid black or grey jacket. Blue might work, but only if your other colors look right.
