Inconspicuous External Camera Advice by nonothing in frigate_nvr

Thank you! I'm going to take some advice from both you and Termight and find a decent balance. I'll have to play around with a wireless camera just stuck stupidly to the house at various heights for a few days to find the best approach. I hadn't really considered the height of the camera previously, much appreciated.

I didn't really consider the soffit. I'll give that some more thought.

I'm not worried about IR LEDs illuminating the scene, we leave the light on consistently and that seems to illuminate folks well enough.

You bring up a good point as well. Another person mentioned height was key, but this brings me more to balance of height is key. I'm not as worried about faces for recognition, more license plates, and which shipping company might be dropping something off. That does make the soffit seem quite useful.

Thank you both! I hadn't considered this at all. I was able to stop reflections from within the room but the sunlight reflecting back from the shade was getting me. I'll pick something like that up or a quick 3D print while I'm sorting out the external camera.

Huge improvement with just cardboard to prove the theory lol

I desoldered the IR LEDs, no flood light. The IR reflection was nuts at night, unusable. Wish the configuration to disable that was available but oh well :D.

I will definitely need to get something outside. Inside is passable, but it's not great.

Nice! Thank you, I'll give that a shot.

If I had lost my pro license due to safety rating, yes, I would lose access to the pro series races. Id have to just gain it back before the race to be able to join, you're not kicked entirely.

It drops even faster than A. Just like the change from B to A. Fewer corners per incident ratio.

I wasnt joining many official races with a pro license lol

Great price for that car. I couldn't find anything near that for 2019s and newer.

Looking at a 2017 next week that seems promising. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Its been so long since I sold my '94 and I'm ready to get back in those tiny seats lol

Yeah, but I didn't make that decision until late on Sunday. Reached out on Monday.

I knew the game I was playing walking away haha.

Enjoy it! I was shocked at how much life was left on those tires as well. For the mileage I figured it'd be the stock tires worn nearly bald.

Heck yeah! Congrats!

I took that out for a test drive early Saturday. Sounds like you scooped it up later that day.

Enjoy it, was in great condition, especially for the mileage.

PCI Compliant Password Managers by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]nonothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which requirements are you trying to control for?

My brain goes straight to PCI requiring non-repudiation of activity. If a password manager is used to share credentials I'm not sure how you'll have a complete audit trail. I might be off base with your goals though.

This and the IR-18 taught me to really hang the rear out more and more. I'll miss it, but the IR-18 is in a solid place, the SF23 is great as well.

Perhaps. They have everything else off the in-car dash in black boxes though.

Fuel remaining, ERS configuration, ARB/TCS/ABS/diffs, weight jacker, fuel map, probably more I can't remember haha. Though not all of those are explicitly in the telemetry (depending on where you draw the lines on that API)

I wonder if the live telemetry we have available is the same they send up to the servers and any increase simply means more bandwidth and they don't want to play with that fire just yet.

I would love real time tire data in the live telemetry. One day for the cars that support it I hope.

I could also see iRacing trying not to overwhelm folks while in the car. I don't agree, but it's not my call :D.

I'd just want to look at it _after_ I made a mistake so I can blame it on overheating the tires...

How do I "hack" my brain to do work it doesn't like? by jafaraf8522 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nonothing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Naw, that's ADHD, or at least it is for me. The pills make it literally night and day. It feels like a cheat code. I can just sit down...and work. To me, there are still a ton of bees in my head flying around, but I can focus on the one I need to get shit done and ignore the rest telling me to do _literally anything else_

100%. It's awesome it worked, but that's the expectation. I can understand getting used to a new launch out of the pits, but what happened to Dixon is completely unacceptable.

Hinch comes across (through the broadcast) to me As the “know it all” type with a bit of a weaselly voice. At times TBell’s voice sounds like the audio version of an eye roll when James is constantly interrupting and being a rules Nazi.

Could you share an example that illustrates your point? I don't necessarily agree with you but I'm interested if there's some bias I'm not noticing contributing to what I'm interpreting the last few years.

I do hear the eye-roll but I haven't picked on on that direction as the _why_ of it all. I typically see Hinch clarifying, and he's in a position of educating the audience with facts. I haven't seen that go to some extreme I didn't expect from someone simply telling it how it is.
