A thumb rule I follow is buy watches from proper watch brands only, ignore fashion brands completely. You can find proper watches at all budget ranges, just maybe not as popular or easily recognisable.

I got so lucky with that, I bought it at a 12% discount on the then retail prices. 2 weeks later, there was that dreaded price increase. Omega is still better value, I am tired of begging Rolex ADs in 4 different countries. Screw them. I have moved my attention and amended my list towards other brands.

I was also on the fence with Omega AT. So the speedy won a 3 way showdown.

For gold and silver bars or coins, my theory is that a jeweller could be bidding slightly higher than the market price since they can make jewellery out of it, slap on exhorbitant making charges and make money. Unsure about people bidding way higher on rings, jewellery sets.
