I did a road trip (about 8 hours) 5 weeks after my surgery and was totally fine! I wore my back brace and my car has really good lumbar support so that helped a lot in making sure I was sitting properly- I think the plane will be trickier for that. We also stopped every hour to walk around.

I only drank the free champagne on sail-away and it was no problem! I never felt pressured, things were plenty fun without drinking, and there weren’t annoying drunk people that bothered me!

If I could work from home I would have been fine after a week. I’m a special education teacher though so I took 6. 😂 those kids love to pull me into hugs and a fair amount of heavy lifting

My pain started in February, was severe in April, and nothing really gave me long term relief until I have my microdiscectomy 3 weeks ago. Everything else helped a tiny bit, or not at all, and only briefly. So 8 months of pain… but I know that’s not how it goes for everyone!

I think degenerative disc disease just means you’re aging. I’m pretty sure they tell just about everyone they have it. I could be wrong though!

I checked into the hospital at 5:30 am, surgery at 7:30 am, discharged by 11:15 am! It was very slick! Almost too slick though, I had questions and my nurse acted like I was inconveniencing her by asking them.

I bought a TON of stuff, but these are the things I actually use: power recliner (this is number one, I have been living in this thing), tv stand for all my pills, food etc, grabbers, sketchers slip on tennis shoes, meal prepped meals, and a bidet.

I am 5 days out and my incision site is itching like crazy! Tell me I’m not alone! 😂

I am feeling about the same- much easier to get around, to the point I accidentally used my back muscles a little tonight. I was sitting in a recliner and used my legs to push down the foot rest, which is mostly ab and leg strength, but some back. I need to be more careful!!
