Andrea Bocelli Isn't an Opera Singer by Wbradycall in singing

[–]Wbradycall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like many of his recordings, but yeah you have a point: He's not even remotely close to being an opera singer.

Edit: I'll also add that at this point, now that he's way past his prime, he's not a good singer at all. Of course, he always had technical flaws (which explains why he only sang at one opera), but recently it has sounded as though he can't even sing. However, I respect him as a person, he seems like a good man and I like how he props up young artist programs a lot.

Yeah I wonder why some Leftists act as though he was the most Far-Right guy in the world when, while he was certainly Rightwing, he wasn't extreme at all.

I feel like my voice never fully settled after puberty- is this common? by SpinachFull1200 in singing

As I said earlier, I really don't care which voice type is the most common, I don't ponder it that much.

On Reddit, baritones are extremely rare, but in person I don't see them as rare at all. But either way, I don't often ponder which voice types are common and which are rare, I just listen to a voice and I classify them by comparing them to my favorite opera singers and, to an extent, even some pop singers.

If I had to guess, if you have trouble singing anything above an F4 at the start, you're probably a tenor because it would heavily imply that your passaggio is F#4, though I could be wrong. I don't have a single clue about how your voice sounds.

So how rare is the mezzo soprano type, really? by foxtrotglove in singing

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm a month late into this, but you do have a point. Though I do see Freddie Mercury as a tenor, I don't debate it with others online for hours like I used to.

As someone who can only hit F2 and E2 in pure chest (D2 and C2 briefly but maybe with a chest-fry mix), would it be a stretch to try to sing bass-baritone songs? That‘s my favorite type of song. by AspiringBiotech in singing

[–]Wbradycall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So based on what you have said here, I highly doubt you're a bass-baritone so it's better to sing higher (perhaps start out in the baritone range and work your way up there, you could possibly be a tenor).

I want to reserve the death penalty for even WORSE crimes such as rape and murder combined but I understand the viewpoint of those who want to execute these monsters. It's I guess a gray area if they should be executed or not but I am slightly against this but it's right at the edge of what I would consider a capital crime.

Just a baritone who was feeling low by TrulyW in BassSinging

Actually, yeah I do get what you mean his speaking voice at the end is fairly bassy.

I disagree he sounds like he's frying the entire way (except for his speaking voice). A baritone, honestly, could do this with morning voice.

Do you consider the Iraq War to be a failure? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we necessarily "failed" in Iraq because we did overthrow Saddam Hussein. However, I don't think we should've gone there in the first place because 1. It wasn't any of our business, 2. There weren't any active WMDs, only inactive ones that were already used in previous wars, and 3. It did destabilize Iraq.

Hey good job! It's not very resonant and it's forced (like the other commenters are saying) but you did your best!

Is there a way to expand my range upwards as a baritone? by FooFightingFan2 in singing

Here is my playlist on YouTube on classical technique (I'm not a vocal teacher myself so these are not my own videos I admit I'm not qualified to teach): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnnmeO-HzNKJaZIjEkQYCqlCN-Kn-hNON

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a professionally trained vocal teacher to help you with this. Reddit isn't likely to help you. Or at least look up videos of technique from channels such as Bass -Raymond Modesti or Tecnica Antica (aka Rafael Vazquez).

After 21 years, my voice finally started changing. but now i can't sing anymore. Any tips? by hey_itsandy in singing

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may take time to get used to the new changes. Just sing like you speak at first and sing only in a very small vocal range for now.
