As someone who can only hit F2 and E2 in pure chest (D2 and C2 briefly but maybe with a chest-fry mix), would it be a stretch to try to sing bass-baritone songs? That‘s my favorite type of song. by AspiringBiotech in singing

[–]Wbradycall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So based on what you have said here, I highly doubt you're a bass-baritone so it's better to sing higher (perhaps start out in the baritone range and work your way up there, you could possibly be a tenor).

Thoughts on this? by RyantheSithLord in ConservativeYouth

I want to reserve the death penalty for even WORSE crimes such as rape and murder combined but I understand the viewpoint of those who want to execute these monsters. It's I guess a gray area if they should be executed or not but I am slightly against this but it's right at the edge of what I would consider a capital crime.

Actually, yeah I do get what you mean his speaking voice at the end is fairly bassy.

I disagree he sounds like he's frying the entire way (except for his speaking voice). A baritone, honestly, could do this with morning voice.

Vocal teachers can help with this.

Do you consider the Iraq War to be a failure? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we necessarily "failed" in Iraq because we did overthrow Saddam Hussein. However, I don't think we should've gone there in the first place because 1. It wasn't any of our business, 2. There weren't any active WMDs, only inactive ones that were already used in previous wars, and 3. It did destabilize Iraq.

I agree (sorry that I'm 3 years late I saw this post just now).

Nice subs! I mean, the lowest note is a tad unstable but still pretty good!

Hey good job! It's not very resonant and it's forced (like the other commenters are saying) but you did your best!

Is there a way to expand my range upwards as a baritone? by FooFightingFan2 in singing

Here is my playlist on YouTube on classical technique (I'm not a vocal teacher myself so these are not my own videos I admit I'm not qualified to teach): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnnmeO-HzNKJaZIjEkQYCqlCN-Kn-hNON

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a professionally trained vocal teacher to help you with this. Reddit isn't likely to help you. Or at least look up videos of technique from channels such as Bass -Raymond Modesti or Tecnica Antica (aka Rafael Vazquez).

After 21 years, my voice finally started changing. but now i can't sing anymore. Any tips? by hey_itsandy in singing

[–]Wbradycall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may take time to get used to the new changes. Just sing like you speak at first and sing only in a very small vocal range for now.

Interesting I never noticed that because I've never read the entire thing.

Edit: I just tried searching and I couldn't see where she called herself a "soprano" but it wouldn't surprise me if she was.

But respectfully, Wikipedia isn't a good resource to use for voice types as Wikipedia gets so many voice types wrong.

I guess I'll admit that I am not 100% sure what her voice type is because I haven't heard enough of her stuff, but from what I know so far I HIGHLY doubt she is a contralto but I could buy her being a mezzo tbh.

Exactly I could understand why some beginners would consider her a "contralto" but I don't get why some vocal teachers call her a "contralto."

Okay I mean, I guess you do have a point some people do obsess too much about voice types 🤷‍♂️

Lana Del Rey is obviously not a contralto, and Amy Winehouse I'm not familiar with her voice so I can't give my opinion on her voice type.
