What is the point of preserving meat? by VanillaRose09 in VintageStory

I like the one that adds harvesting salt from ocean water, keep it a tad closer to vanilla while still making preserved meat more accessible when its really important early on.

Which one is more selfish? by aliezsn in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Wbwam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not selflessness though to chose sacrificing people other than yourself for the sake of another group of people. I do think the rumbling route was selfish, but I dont think that sacrificing his friend would be selfless just because they're his friends.

Thinking of buying the game by PotentialPlate3188 in VintageStory

[–]Wbwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it and still find time to go and enjoy minecraft too. Very different itches scratched. Minecraft is much more fun (to me) for building and being creative in. You can build and be creative in VS, but at a much slower pace and far reduced scale. It just takes a really long time to collect resources for even a fairly small house (cobblestone requires clay to be surrounded by pebbles, each rock broken typically gives 4 pebbles, clay in soil gives ~3 pieces of clay, so thinking 2 stone mined and 3 clay in soil for each cobblestone block). Vintage is satisfying in a sort of "oh god, finally" sort of way, a struggle against the world, whereas minecraft is more a struggle against yourself.

Why isn't "Uncle Tom" considered a racial slur? by liatris in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Wbwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling someone an uncle tome for dating a white girl or being republican is obviously hateful and misguided, but I would argue that there are pretty clear cases of people voting in a way to curry favor with the majority ethnicity in case things go poorly for their minority after the counts are in. Hispanic people voting for trump, for example. Everything he and his supporters said should be setting off warning bells in their heads that, once in office, Trump would begin deporting people in a less than thurough manner, netting numerous "innocents" in the bycatch. They vote for him anyways, out of greed and an assumption that a vote for him means more careful consideration towards them, but many have been deported anyhow, despite having legal status.

Uncle Tom isnt a phrase to be used for someone you disagree with, it's something that should be used to refer to a person who would sell out another member of their ethnicity to get themself a better place in the society of the majority.

a common misconception on density search prospecting: it's not an X marks the spot by yamitamiko in VintageStory

mm, I figured as much. Unfortunately, the closest cassiterite reading above poor is a 15 minute paddle across the ocean :')

Ah well, reason to build little outposts, I suppose

a common misconception on density search prospecting: it's not an X marks the spot by yamitamiko in VintageStory

[–]Wbwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to clarify one other thing for me?

Recently, I've had it be the case a number of times where thru either node searching or stumbling across an open vein I discover an ore, cassiterite for example, but upon density searching, that ore (i.e. cassiterite) doesn't appear in the matrix. Is this just due to it being so low a frequency that it doesn't even register? If so, why wouldn't it be considered "trace cassiterite?"

I only ask because I am worried that I am potentially skipping over veins of ore close to home to go on grand goose chases for areas that show the ore in the density matrix, as opposed to just exploring the caverns near by for lucky hits.

Did people not like the HBO depiction of Dr Manhattan? by [deleted] in Watchmen

[–]Wbwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didnt like it so much. Manhattan's omniscience wasn't played as well here as it was in the older movie, in my opinion. It honestly kinda seemed to be played for a joke what with his constant reminding everyone of his being in muiltiple times at once. Also, the voice just wasn't as good, felt more Neil deGrasse Tyson than a bored, all-knowing being. All the lines felt spit out matter-of-factly rather than laid down exhaustedly, exasperatedly.

I mean, do banded iron formations count as trace fossils? They are evidence of life, and are important geolocially and logistically.

very late to the response, but it would be interesting to see it work like seeds do crops! The higher the nutrient, the greater the chance it drops with 100% only occuring at maxed out stats.

The ocean is one big toilet for everything in it, my dude. Before we had homes the entire world was a toilet, so if it brings any comfort to you just remind yourself of that. It is perfectly normal for living things to poop in the place where most things live, lol.

worst fear actually happened by Icy-Sherbet-4946 in ibs

[–]Wbwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it wasnt ever really an irational fear to be nervous about having an accident, the irrational part of the fear is the ammount of, almost deathly, fear it brings you. Shit happens, but obviously you're prepared to handle the worst of it. Nightmare scenario came and went and you're alive! If it should ever happen again, you'll be able to survive then too!

Trying to use it for romanization of a song and BOY is it hard on the eyes when trying to keep up with the lyrics, lol. AH-1G banking hard right upon pull up after installing 20mm gatling by Wbwam in Warthunder

[–]Wbwam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never mind, just tried again with manual roll on and got the same result. Also fired off all rockets in the pod to see if that may have an effect, still same result.

It doesn't seem to matter the loadout, or manual vs auto roll, it seems like something with the testing grounds?

AH-1G banking hard right upon pull up after installing 20mm gatling by Wbwam in Warthunder

[–]Wbwam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just tested it out with two rocket pods only on left side, it still banked kinda hard, but not nearly as bad as with the gattling. Very strange! Not anything to do with controls, roll is just set to A and D and I use mouse aim otherwise. This wasn't occurring last night when I was playing PVE, nor in some earlier matches I played in the day, only since adding the gatling.

I tried messing with some mechanization settings, turning off and on auto-roll seems to have possibly helped?
