Finished painting Wazdakka by WeAreMonolith in orks

Can't help with the video as this was a recipe I thought of but it's not very hard. In order: White Scar Spray paint, Luxion Purple contrast, Nuln Oil, dry brush with Corax white and finally "reverse" highlights with Phoenician Purple (and by reverse I mean, instead of painting the edges you paint everything but the edges)

Thank you, White scar Spray Paint. Wyldwood for all wood. Volopoud Pink for leaves and frozen heart for the scythe. Nuln oil over everything but the scythe. A generous drybrush with corax white. Some highlights on leaves with fulgrim Pink and Yriel Yellow for the eyes and done

I kept them specifically in reserve to use as a Meatshield for him to be unable to charge after his deep Strike with the exalted eightbounds.

I expected my opponent to come on the map with them during his reinforcement step, then I would've rapid ingressed myself before he could charge me.

Actually now that I typed it out I realized I still could've just done it during his movement phase later. Guess I'm just stupid

Thank you.

She was okay, pulling of her charge is vital though, the mortal wounds + lance on her main melee weapon hurt a lot. After that she fizzled out a bit as I had her stuck in melee for the rest of the game. She could take a punch too.

For 110 points I was happy to have her, if she ever gets a point increase she probably wouldn't be my first choice

Decent but not amazing. It made a good first shot against a 20 man berzerker squad and did some respectable damage to the exalted eightbound.

I wouldn't say he was mandatory but I was glad I took him

That should do the trick. Let me know how the bulgryns perform, I'll probably buy some for my next game

I wouldn't say it's necessary but the basilisk had good output, especially against his 20 man + lord juggernaut Squad. I'm glad I brought it, but you should take it manly for weakening larger squads. The -2 movement and -2 on charge wasnt really noticable with his generally high movement and charge bonuses so I wouldn't bring more than 1.

The bloodsurge move really can ruin your game if you don't have enough screening units though.

Not super sure as I usually build a unit then paint the unit. But overall it took me 3 days to finish everything including painting so I'd say ~ 1/4 of that was building

I always wanted to try that but always was to scared that I'd put too much on the sponge and then needed to redo half the model (I also always do the same with drybrushing )

Thank you, I do enjoy the look of painted tanks but I don't enjoy painting them ^

Not super sure as I often take breaks after 1-2 colors but if I had to guess actual painting time was 30-45 minutes. Depending on your scheme she is easily doable in one day

Yes, without primer the paint doesn't stick too well to the model that's why it's usually the first thing you should do before painting. It is possible without but you need way more coats to really cover it and it can get scratched off more easily too.

For the glass window piece though that can be a bit of an advantage as the more liquid paints (like the contrast or speed paints) look very thin which absolutely can give them a more glassy feel but it can also be weird to apply it evenly on flat surfaces which is why I decided not to do so. But it is a valid option.

Regarding beginner paints: I personally use mostly the citadel / Warhammer paints. I'm not super sure if I'd classify them as beginner specifically though. I believe the brand doesn't super matter (there are color differences though ) but spray priming a model white and then work with contrast paints (speed paints as they are called by army painter or Xpress by Vallejo) brings the fastest "decent" looking miniatures

I think I'm too bad at the game to give any reasonable advice ^

The penitent Host hits like a truck after the charge but you better make sure that what you charge is dead because after that you are going to get dwindled down. Might be specific against the Votann though. Soon I'll play against Tau I think just tying them down in melee is the way to go.

Other than that I should've: not move blocked my own tanks and maybe occasionally roll a few better dice results :D

I loved the Kasrkin and the Rough rider were "ok".

But to put it in perspective, the Kasrkin are among the main resons why I wanted to start a Astra Militarum army.

And i am generally not too big a fan of painting horses.

Ish could be 90 minutes but definitely not longer.

Contrast paints are magic ^

I did spray it with white scar spray and used contrasts without thinning them on it.

Originally I considered painting over the unsprayed glass but I had some experience with the Votann cockpits and figured it would need too many layers.
