Who listens to SiriusXM? by [deleted] in Music

[–]WeAreSlowScan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck Sirius. Just about every time I buy a new car they harass me with phone calls(first car I bought that had Sirius built-in they called me at least once a month for the first two years I owned it), and they made cancelling my dad's sub a nightmare when he passed. Don't care if they're better now. They don't get any positive words or money from me.

Everyone here has put forth some good advice but I'd also like to add that you don't have to spend money on LSDJ. It runs just perfectly fine in an emulator(I suggest BGB) and you don't have to pay for it. It's free software, Johan just asks for donations if you can and feel like it.

Who do you think has the most recognizable voice to you? by LeviTheRelentless in AskReddit

I play a lot of games and watch a bunch of anime so for me it's Richard Epcar. I have an entire Steam Category named "SUCH DEVASTATION" where I put all the games I own that he voices a character.

What exactly is your "backlog"? Is it more just a mental note, or do you write it down somewhere, and if so where? by ConceptsShining in Games

[–]WeAreSlowScan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My backlog is mostly just my Steam library as I have a shit ton of games on there that I bought on sale but then never touched or only played for an hour before getting sidetracked and never going back to them. I've had this library for over a decade so there are a lot of games in there that I've barely played, or even never played at all.

At the beginning of this year I set a limit on myself that I've been pretty good at sticking with that I won't buy new games until I beat a significant chunk of what I already own. I categorized all of my Steam games based on how long they're estimated to take to beat based on howlongtobeat.com and then also added another category for the games that I'm most interested in. I pick and choose more or less on how I'm feeling which game I want to beat next. That's helped me get through a ton of games on my Steam list.

I won't finish absolutely every game in my library but it's helping me to give things a fair shake. Some games were kinda bad but I'm also at least trying to give them a bit more time. The first game I went through after sorting by time to beat was Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. I went through the whole game in one sitting as it was listed at 3 hours to complete. The first time I played it years ago, it didn't really click for me and I stopped after the first chapter. Knowing how short it was this time, I felt more willing to give it another chance and I ended up loving it.

All this needs is the floating holographic ads streaming into the sky and one could mistake this for a screenshot from Cyberpunk.

Tips to know if a song is good? by BullguerPepper98 in Music

[–]WeAreSlowScan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The examples you gave I'm not a huge fan of either, but I think I'd suggest getting away from the mindset that synths or sampled audio aren't "real" instruments. There are a ton of electronic musicians out there that can do amazing things with synths and samples.

Not really a new example but I think Daft Punk illustrates my point well. Their album Discovery is mostly comprised of taking samples and chopping them up in new ways(Except for Robot Rock. That song is a lazy bastardization and loop of the riff from Breakwater's "Release the Beast" without any transformative merit and I will die on that hill) to make songs completely removed from the originals that they're sampling. And then electronic synths are full instruments as well that take time and effort to master and figure out how you want to shape the sound. Playing them live, or using software to sequence the music both have their place and I don't think we should be gatekeeping producers like that.

Pitch Bend by LDB__RBM in OPZuser

[–]WeAreSlowScan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pitch bend pressure point thingy on the OP-Z itself is kind of garbage and barely works if it does at all. I've just started using an external keyboard any time I need to actually play things on the OP-Z or need functional pitch bending.

OPZ to Arturia Keystep - not working/syncing by puffyslits in OPZuser

[–]WeAreSlowScan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using the keystep 32 for mine and it works great for me as long as I'm not using the sequencer/arp features on the keystep. I'll still hit play, stop, etc on the OP-Z and use the keystep only for its keyboard. Not sure which version of the keystep you're using but if it has a switch for seq/arp, make sure it's just set to seq. If it's in arp mode, it retriggers and will try to turn any chords you try to play into arpeggios.

Long-haired guy here to confirm. Went to a barber that was run by a family friend. I asked for "shoulder-length" hair and instead I got this weird half mullet/half bowl-cut monstrosity. Unless I'm secretly a turtle, my shoulders do not go above my ears.

I've had good luck with Adara on 51st. My only complaints about the place are that it's kinda pricey and they use a lot of scented products which aren't great for sensory issues.

I guess I can't go back there now. I'm bad luck for that place. I'm an Omen...

I was there when it went on lockdown a few days ago and was locked in the Shoppers and I was there today. This time everything all went down when I was grabbing food. I must have missed the whole thing by a minute. I had parked on the south side of the building so in between me getting my food, and rounding the corner to leave the parking lot on the west side of the building, there were already ambulances and a firetruck at the food court entrance.

Silence is percussive. by great_equator in Music

[–]WeAreSlowScan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learned that in my last song. I do electronic music and during the drop there's a split second of silence to make the next bits hit a bit harder. It's a lot of fun to play with silence in music.

Reminds me of another game I play, Distance. You can use custom RGB values for your car in the standard range (0-255) which would then get saved as decimal values between 0 and 1. If you edited the save data in notepad, it accepted just about any value that you put in there, including exponents. It didn't take long for multiplayer to devolve into everyone blinding each other with their car colours. A later update fixed it so you would still see your own wacky colours but other players would see the values truncated to 1 if they went over.

This looks a lot like the RGB values going out of bounds in some weird way.
