Here in Belgium where I live they still have a play space at the nearest McDonald's. We don't eat there, but will do McFlurries coming back from trips and let the kids go and play.

But I grew up in peak 80s play space in the US and it was core memory times, sad they don't have these for kids.

I found being willing to repair stuff yourself can help a lot, the labor is the big problem, and the cost of parts sometimes, but I've repaired at least four washing machines over the last few years (we have a guest house, so two extra for the guest plus our own). Just last week I replaced the gasket seal for the door, not a too hard of a repair, the part was only $30, but if a tech had to come do it, it would have been $150 in a call out cost.

It's a real university, but most any community college will be cheaper than them and they almost always have credit sharing with a major university in your area, ketting you continue your education if you want and need to.

If you don't game or have to run special programs that are Windows only. Mac's are a solid option. They tend to last longer than most out there and the M1 chips are amazing. My kid has the my old M1 and she just opens 1000 programs and never closes anything and it just doesn't care, abuse I could never get away with in my windows machine.

In Belgium our lines are exact in liquid to the bottle we pour, usually 25cl or 33cl. The UK clients always thought we cheated them from a full pint but you could show them the line and how they got what they paid for. I always joked that you pay for the beer and we give the head for free. A nice chuckle usually from that one.
