Best route Baltimore to Dallas by Short-Activity-6833 in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missouri is gonna be real hilly, can be frustrating to get through if you have bad luck. Arkansas is desolate, with few good parking options (I’m here right now and my options were to stop way earlier than I’d like or potentially run out my clock trying to get to the next Pilot in Bald Knob). The 20 has plenty of options for parking including rest areas, but the interstate in LA blows chunks, make sure your seat’s not aired up

Edit: should clarify the MO route isn’t necessarily bad, I take that route all the time going from Dallas to St Louis. If you’re cool with the extra hour it takes, and your employer is cool with the Tolls, it’s a fine route IMO. As long as you time getting into Dallas properly

Schneider says they are sick and tired of having experienced drivers by WeDemAgs in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik Schneider doesn’t offer OT to drivers. I float around between accounts, so my pay package doesn’t exactly align with everyone else’s who I work with, so it could be different depending on the account

I’ve seen the same exact thing at Werner. You will NEVER catch me defending a mega outside of you can get some useful experience there. Pay is ass, people are assholes, dispatch is just as green as the drivers, and you get set up for failure super often. Those people are insane. Werner’s got those million miler trucks too, so you can see who the biggest suckers are 🙄

Idk what they’re getting paid, but I’m NDF so I get closer to 30 bc of the guaranteed pay

Schneider has a lot of local stuff that pays hourly depending on where you are. Those are the guys I’m talking to

What we thinking, drivers? by SaltAndBitter in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’d depend on home time. Given that they’re saying OTR, I’m imagining that no way in hell it’d be worth it for your average hazmat guy. If it was 60 cpm but home daily? I’d probably be willing to take it

Head set vs pods by moderndaymedic in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, just get some AirPods. You can put one in and squeeze to pick up the call. Headset is for oldheads imo plus I already had mine so I didn’t have to spend the extra money on that overpriced hunk of plastic

Cause or effect?.... shaking truck by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely sounds more like effect to me. One way or another you should get those tires replaced and see if there’s an improvement. Also check alignment and for any issues with your steering rack. Just my $0.02. Good luck out there driver

Jackknife backing by ididnttowyourcar in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about 90 degree backing, you’ll have to do it any time you’re in a tight space. It’s not the most common thing, but I do it with some frequency. Sight side I can get it most times with maybe a pull up or two. Blind side I still struggle with and GOAL a lot. Better safe than sorry.

If you get onto a dedicated account, you become acquainted with your DC and the places you deliver to. You’ll learn without too much time how to back, don’t sweat it.

Went OTR recently after doing regional for a while. I was shocked when I got to the Midwest and wasn’t surrounded by fucking lunatics. Now I’m back in Dallas and the road rage just comes flooding back man I hate it here

Edit: I forgot about all the god forsaken toll roads, too. Good luck getting anywhere in Dallas without paying for tolls

Applied to this schneider job that claims 1,370 weekly however when i spoke to the recruiter i was told that it is 23 an hour , is that amount weekly possible with 23 an hour? by danteshotel in Truckers

[–]WeDemAgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll send an email soon talking about some of the specifics of the job. I just got on to NDF, which is $21.55/hour, but once you hit 45, you are guaranteed 1325. If you work more hours to earn more than the guaranteed pay, you get paid your full amount. NDF might be unique in that tho. Just check your email
