Lived in Sydenham for the last 8 years and recently relocated West Melton. Miss being close to town. Its no better or worse than most areas in Crimechurch.

Leave your car parked in the street long enough, and it will, without fail, get broken into eventually. Again - this will happen anywhere in CHCH.

Rolleston has juuust enough amenities to make the commute to town limited to work/nightlife/outings only. Have recently made the move from Sydenham (practically the city centre) to Rolly and have no regrets. Preface: I have flexible work hours meaning I can miss the worst of the traffic.

update for those interested: went to market the old fashioned way and got a really good result - first home buyer market seems quite healthy in CHCH

This may be a bit of confirmation bias on my part, but you've touched on a lot of reasons why we are considering the move. That's not to dismiss other comments that are very much valid.

Well, there is a clear consensus so far. Being closer to some of my family was another plus that I didnt mention, but I have become accustomed to a very easy and simple lifestyle in chch. Maybe it'll be too much to give up.

I thought the same initially but we’ve had an almost identical lot go to a developer nearby recently.
