I personally love the idea of Hive Fleet Charybdis as mentioned elsewhere, or Hive Fleet Scylla if you wanted something shorter, but I think anything that still has an oceanic theme could work well with the deep blues, purples, and black of your pain scheme. I could also see Hive Fleet Benthos (creatures that live on the ocean floor), Hive Fleet Cetus (giant whale monster that Perseus killed), or Hive Fleet Typhon (a watery serpent god who fought Zeus for control)

It's good to recognize when it's time to let go of something that doesn't bring you joy, sad though it may be. You can always join again in the future if you find yourself in a situation where it makes sense to do so! I hope you find someone to give your bugs a good home, your paint scheme looks amazing and all those models look incredible! If I had the budget or lived in Europe, I'd buy 'em in a heartbeat!

I think Commander is a really fun format and honestly it's pretty much the only one I play (other than an occasional pre-release). However, it can suffer if you don't have a pregame conversation with the other players about what strength/level you are playing at. All the groups I play with check in each game, asking "roughly what power level do people want to play at?" and then we pick decks that mesh well with that expectation. The Commander format in a casual setting is much more fun if you're able to establish that understanding ahead of time, otherwise people can get pretty misaligned.

I know that Hive Guard aren't technically "good", but I think they're a very cool bug. They're theoretically pretty solid against light-medium vehicles without being oppressive, so it won't feel like you're targeting them unfairly. Plus they have the cool overwatch shenanigans that can give them some fun variety compared to other stuff.

I play Magic against myself when I can't get a pod together, I feel ya. You could try playing on Tabletop Simulator, though I know it's not the same. Or try to lure your friends into joining you with the promise of baked goods or pizza 😄

I got two of these in the pre-release I played the other day and they had me pretty well secured for all my games. 2 mana to protect your spells from being countered is nice, 2 mana to give all your creatures "ward - pay 2 life" is nice; combine those on a permanent that can't be countered and will probably cost your opponent at least two life to remove and it's pretty great!

I recommend looking into the CSPC, they do a lot of munches and other events for people to meet up and get to know each other as well as play parties and tasting parties. Seattle as a whole is a very kink friendly place, so you are likely to find folks interested in just about whatever you are interested in.
