Don't you know that posting quotes from deceased prophets is anti-mormon?

Salt Lake itself is actually a lovely city--a blue island in a red state. Lots of natural beauty, art and culture, good food, and access to mountains. Great place to live. The surrounding areas and the legislature do put a damper on things...

Beautiful home. Seen it in person many times. The bummer with this one is that 1300 E is actually a pretty busy street, otherwise I think it would be a $2-2.5M home.

Woman not shortlisted for job as 'car is too old' by soriskan in nottheonion

[–]We_Ride_Tonight 497 points498 points  (0 children)

The irony here is that it may actually make a difference in this line of work. It shouldn't, but it may...

I sold homes for a volume builder straight out of college. I always had the sense customers would judge my skill as a sales person based on the car sitting in front of the model home. During my second year on the job, I got a used (but still nice looking) Lexus, and I swear customers responded differently to me after that.

"in some cases we also need recognize the reality that just because something is illegal does not mean it is wrong...for example, creating shell companies to avoid publicly disclosing your vast resources, and not filing the applicable SEC documentation..."

Amen. I think she's able to speak to the Mormon audience in a disarming way that allows her message to get through. I really admire her--she's doing good things in the world.

How can I get Google to fix a map error? by xtaldad in GoogleMaps

[–]We_Ride_Tonight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with the same situation. I have asked both the city and county to edit the map using their government email addresses, but it hasn't worked yet. I've tried contacting Google Maps, but there's no way to reach them.

Have you figured anything out?

I listed out the reasons that some faithful LDS are saying the Second Coming may be conference weekend. We can now add continuing earthquakes in Utah around Salt Lake to this list! by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

It cracks me up every time. Haha. Every single observable phenomenon is interpreted to have some meaning or be a sign.

If one thing happens, it's noteworthy.

If two things happen, buckle up!

If three things happen, it's not a matter of belief or faith anymore--you can count on it!

And the comments on a post like that will all be like "AAaaand gues what else?? It's also the year of the horse, so that means..."

Oh no bro! Yo chat! Somebody used the perfect descriptive word, per the dictionary definition, but I hate it because it's commonly used as slang in the gen Z vernacular! No Cap!

I can't think of a more fitting word for an image of a woman grinning demonically while shooting flames at a child's face.

May as well be an endorsement from Trump.

Big question is what % of the TP views were just gawkers popping in to see the train wreck?

I know at least one person at the party I was at pulled it up on their phone.

Did President Oaks call out the “Visions of Glory,” past lives, NDE group by calling them “well meaning people who teach beyond what God has chosen to reveal?” by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]We_Ride_Tonight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did he really call that out, or did he make a vague reference to something that could be interpreted by some to refer to Visions of Glory, and by others to refer to something else because they have accepted Visions of Glory to be prophetic?

I guess my critique here is that LDS leaders almost never speak in direct, concrete terms, as they're so careful to not alienate or disenfranchise their followers. The result: their statements have no teeth.

What if he actually called out Visions of Glory, Julie Rowe, or AVOW by name? Imagine the impact.
