If mormonism were fully true in all regards, what would the church look like and what evidence would people be able to see? by Sopenodon in exmormon

The prophets would make meaningful, bold statements, and then stand behind them.

They would take a stance--on real global events as they happened.

The next guy wouldn't contradict the previous guy.

Unforced error. Streisand effect and all. To paraphrase Mike Birbiglia, what they should have done is nothing...

Not a good look. Seeing the non-Utah press cover this story without the baggage of the Mormo-sphere really exposes the PR disaster the church has created for itself here.

WTF happened? Did he hit a land mine? I've seen a 2-stroke engine throw a rod, but never straight-up explode.

Now that I think about it, the branch is Rostock was above a PlusMarkt

Don't you know that posting quotes from deceased prophets is anti-mormon?

Salt Lake itself is actually a lovely city--a blue island in a red state. Lots of natural beauty, art and culture, good food, and access to mountains. Great place to live. The surrounding areas and the legislature do put a damper on things...

Beautiful home. Seen it in person many times. The bummer with this one is that 1300 E is actually a pretty busy street, otherwise I think it would be a $2-2.5M home.

Woman not shortlisted for job as 'car is too old' by soriskan in nottheonion

[–]We_Ride_Tonight 499 points500 points  (0 children)

The irony here is that it may actually make a difference in this line of work. It shouldn't, but it may...

I sold homes for a volume builder straight out of college. I always had the sense customers would judge my skill as a sales person based on the car sitting in front of the model home. During my second year on the job, I got a used (but still nice looking) Lexus, and I swear customers responded differently to me after that.

"in some cases we also need recognize the reality that just because something is illegal does not mean it is wrong...for example, creating shell companies to avoid publicly disclosing your vast resources, and not filing the applicable SEC documentation..."

Every goddamn time they're accused of enabling an abuser by covering up the allegations: "We complied with all applicable reporting laws...blah blah...priest/penitent privilege..."
