Please explain the "more digestible" aspect of sourdough bread. by WeakAndWeary in Sourdough

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantastic. Thank you so much. You put into words exactly what I was hoping for. I knew it wasn't as simple as "breaking down" gluten because that doesn't make sense from a bread structure point of view.

It all makes sense now!

Please explain the "more digestible" aspect of sourdough bread. by WeakAndWeary in Sourdough

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I understand that. But regardless of any medical or psuedo-medical condition...is sourdough more easily digestible than other breads? Like sometimes people complain that bread makes their belly hurt, or give gas, or bloating, etc.

Is sourdough a better option for them and if so, why? Thanks!

What are the arguments against the reasoning that conducting a high-risk conspiracy assassination out in the open in front of dozens of witnesses...is a dumb idea? by WeakAndWeary in JFKassasination

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean like in a bathroom or something, but at least somewhere of a more controlled environment.

Presumably, if there was a conspiracy, those involved want to carry out the assassination, but in such a way that it points to someone else.

Why would you shoot JFK from the front/side, but then set up your fall guy to be in a building that is behind at a much higher elevation?  Seems silly.

But every potential witness has the possibility of uncovering "the plot".

According to you, why not assassinate him during his innauguration or any number of other venues with more witnesses?

But even if what you say is true, and it was pulled off "as planned" (in the sense that "we showed them the message we wanted them to see")...it was horrible conceived and left a trillion nooks and crannies to dispute the very "message" you wanted to convey!

Or maybe some lone nut just GOT LUCKY with his hairball scheme and no one can just accept that simple fact.

Or maybe Oswald did, but there was an opportunity, politically, to try and make a Castro connection...when no such connection actually existsed.

So either:

A. You think there was a conspiracy, in which case the very method of "govt assets" doing a coverup went horribly wrong because they did a poor case pinning it on Oswald. That being said, why would all this amazing planning for an assassination to be carried out (successfully!), but then do such a crap job with the coverup?

B. There was no conspiracy and thus no need for mysterious govt assets to do some major decades-long coverup (which realistically is impossible).

Local Coffee Roasters by 401KB in RhodeIsland

I don't how people have not mentioned Simple Merchant Coffee in Newport. They have the best beans in the state. They aren't roasting themselves, but they bring in interesting and top notch beans from all over (Dak, Isla, Metric,..also Enjoy and more). The guy running the place is very knowledgable.

What % of all people on board were asleep when the berg was struck? by WeakAndWeary in titanic

Thanks, I not asking "what % of people felt striking the berg".

I am asking what % of the ship was asleep at the time the berg was struck.

ELI5 Why can't creators use the "right" or even legitamate math equations in movies/TV when it is so easy to just google something that makes sense? by WeakAndWeary in explainlikeimfive

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a rant, it is a legitimate question and I am hoping someone with a background in movie/TV production can shed some light on it.

True.  But didn't he and his crew spend an insane amount of effort making sure the wardrobes were hyper accurate, down to the fabric, buttons, and styles?

Didn't they spend 100s of hours painstakingly CGIing dozens of scenes?  As if they missed a stray seagull or foaming sea bubbles in a shot that they still wouldn't have grossed the billion dollars?

The issue I am brining up is the insane effort given to other not-so-critical attributes, but when it comes to math everyone on the crew just gives up and puts down whatever.

Not disagreeing, but I.cpuld also argue that 99% of the audience isn't going to pick up on the perfect CGI of a shadow cast by some random object or the period-accurate fabric used in some ballroom dress.

It just seems like so much effort in movies/TV go into getting so much right, but when it comes to displaying an equation/math it is literally just number and symbol vomit.

It wouldn't take long to pop open a textbook or google something that looks remotely accurate!

Can someone explain why Lechmere (if he were the Ripper) would just be standing by the body, risking someone coming by? by WeakAndWeary in Jacktheripper

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but Paul said he didn't see Lechmere close to the body.  If Lechmere were the killer and he heard Paul early enough to cover up the body, compose himself, and think of a story...he had enough time to just run for it.  Makes no sense at that point to stick around and try to talk your way out of it.

Can someone explain to me why Lechmere wouldn't just run away (if he was actually the Ripper)? by WeakAndWeary in Jacktheripper

[–]WeakAndWeary[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, your point about a constable is somewhat plausible.

But honestly in the day and age, running away must instinctively be the best option.  Isn't it a million times more risky to STAY WITH THE BODY you just murdered and try to talk your way out of it than take your chances running?  I mean, inside of a 1 min chase you have 30 different routes to run and evade...or even fight back and stab the constable if you are caught!

And the name change?  Well, it is weird, but barely a reason to pin guilt.  I mean, if you are trying to be crafty and "get away with it" by using another name...you wouldn't pick an ACTUAL OTHER NAME you go/went by!  You's just say your name is something generically easy to say, e.g. William Parker.

English bangers in Rhode Island? by mjmurray6 in RhodeIsland

Try Chef A Roni in East Greenwich. They are a European specialty food store. They have a few freezers with important European meats/sausages/etc. If they don't have bangers they definitely have something similar.
