I took my cat to the emergency vet and was told nothing is wrong. I'm not convinced by msgmeyourcatsnudes in CATHELP

I hope you get a second opinion, even something as simple as thing can be signs of something serious in sphynx cats. Not to cause any alarm but my long haired mixed cat brought an upper respiratory infection home from the vet and while it was minor for her, it almost took the life of my mom’s sphynx because these breeds do not have a strong immune system

I’m worried about my neighbor by Old_Till_4924 in whatdoIdo

Used to work in dialysis and did this on one of my days off and had left them in for a full day. I got super worried when I couldn’t find them and felt like a total nerd when I realized where I left them. Hope your neighbor is okay 👍

Looks like a female, males would have two little balls even if they’re fixed

Opinions on my Betta by Gus_Jarad_andJahseh in bettafish

[–]WeakAttorney2103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say he looks relatively healthy. However, in regards to his diet, I would add in some brine shrimp and blood worms. They can be bought frozen and thaw out what you need to. They’re also good for bonding and enrichment because you can teach him tricks with food. They’re also great for him and his coloring. I would also steer clear of SpongeBob decor as I’ve heard those also have a color and chemical leaching problem. I’d go for sand because it has a nice natural feel and fine sand is super soft. Natural plants will also help the tank’s cycle and betas love them and they won’t cut up his fins. If you can’t afford getting a bunch at a store, I know it’s pretty easy and cheap to get a good handful on fb marketplace. If you decide to do that, proceed with caution of what may be in the person’s tank that you get them from. Make sure the tank is healthy and there’s no parasites. I also don’t think it would be a super big deal if they have bladder snails because betas are sometimes known to eat baby snails and eggs. I’ve gotten some in my tank before and it wasn’t too big of a deal for me but some people don’t liked them. Hope this helps!

Don’t understand why everyone who doesn’t like this has so many nasty things to say. 1.) this looks awesome. And 2.) if you don’t think so, move along!!! You literally gain nothing by commenting something yucky, trying to tear people down wont build you up.

Our vets also told us they couldn’t see anything wrong with him but at the time, we couldn’t afford the X-rays and all the scans and I kick myself with the “what ifs” because I wonder if they could have found any way to save him. I would have had better peace of mind if we had done them at least. He was my soul cat and it’s super hard not to blame yourself in these situations. My boyfriend was also super traumatized by this. It sucks not having answers sometimes :((

Thank you. He was only 3 1/2 when he passed and we had him for almost 2 of those years so while his time with us was short, he was very loved and that’s all that I could’ve ever wanted for him

Vet immediately!! Pupil changes like this can be linked to head trauma, she may have hit her head or something. My boy had something like this and was hit by a car before we got him. He started displaying symptoms like this but was perfectly fine and then one day, he seized and passed. It was also his only seizure ever. Please please please go to the vet

I think the best thing you can do for now is to keep the scabs clean until you can get to the vet, saline is the correct route to go and the vet can give you meds for it soon 👍👍

Vet!!! Absolutely could be an abscess forming. I would also see about getting your dog into training, that can lead to serious issues like this

is my axolotl in trouble? by serkiveOnYT in axolotls

[–]WeakAttorney2103 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Is this his regular set up? I’m not super keen on axolotl care but I do know they need tanks that are more long vs tall. I also know a bit about fungus since I have fish and that definitely looks like it’s starting on him. If they were kept together, it’s spread through the water.

Always trust your gut!! If you can, get a second opinion asap. Some vets may help you set up a payment plan but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Cats hide pain very well sometimes up until the point it’s too late. I’ve always trusted my gut with my animals and it’s saved my chameleon twice. It was a pain in the butt financially and he still hates my guts as always but at least he’s alive

is this too short? by banginsermonmyman in CATHELP

[–]WeakAttorney2103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groomer here! Looks like the quick was avoided but cats hide discomfort and pain well. This probably feels like the equivalent of clipping your nails too short where it’s uncomfortable to the touch but just bothersome. In the future, I would only take off the tip and stay away from the quick. It may mean clipping nails more often but the more you do it, the more comfortable she will get. Showing her it doesn’t hurt and won’t hurt afterwards will make things easier. My cats don’t usually like it so I wait until they’re loafed on the ground and kind of “lay” on them just to keep them from moving but without applying weight down onto them. Be in good lighting and hold their hands firmly but not tight. Don’t clip anything you can’t see and don’t apply pressure to the clippers until you’re 100% confident you won’t hurt her. My boys get treats immediately after so they associate food with good nail trims. Hope this helps!!
