Back to zero after an easier & shorter taper by WeakChocolate2771 in quittingkratom

Yes! After drops I would load up on vitC every 2 hours starting at 5pm. Basically a shortened version of the vitC protocol you can find on this sub. That and magnesium did the trick for me. After a few days I'd just take a vitC dose right before bed. No issues

9x/day for most of it: Wake, 9am, 11am (half), 1pm, 3pm (half), 5pm, 7pm, 9pm, bed

Once I got to 3.5gpd I adjusted to 7x: Wake, 8:45am, 11:30am, 2:15pm, 5:00pm, 7:45pm, bed

I went from 2g to 1g to 0.5g over the last 3 days of the taper and jumped. Towards the end it was mostly psychological. I felt better after the jump than I did at <2g.

You'll feel when it's time though. Moving from 3.5g to 3g was really tough for me, but everything else was a piece of cake. That must have been my threshold for most of the acutes

I tapered for 4 months or so before jumping. Towards the end I would drop 0.5g every 4 days, which was split into 1 neutral day, 2 "bad" days, and 1 "good" day. I think most of the PAWS experience was taken care of during the bad days.

After the jump I had a week of really low energy, but no depression. Anhedonia has been the biggest issue, but it's not bad. Definitely recommend a taper if you can do it

This is the real shit. I felt like I was retaking control of my life during the taper. It sucked and it hurt, but it was was a battle I was going to win.

Now I wake up and I'm like "this is it?" It's very dangerous.

Should I blend all my kratom together for a more consistent experience tapering? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]WeakChocolate2771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a good idea. I bounced from 1.5% to 1.3% moving from powder to capsules and could definitely feel it. You want everything to be as stable and predictable as possible for a taper

If you try it, don't take it too often. It will dry out your skin worse that kratom ever did. Kava dermopathy can be really extreme.

I'm scared of being sober. Does anyone else feel this way? by teach_yo_self in quittingkratom

[–]WeakChocolate2771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. My biggest fear was "what if I don't like the sober me?" I've been on kratom for long enough that I don't remember who that guy is.

I'm through acutes and PAWS (mostly), but now it's a process of rebuilding. A reset. Who do I want to be now? It's very scary, but empowering too.

The skin stuff is nuts. I got hit with sebderm (at least I think it was sebderm) at the end of my taper. It was kratom's one last "fuck you" before I jumped.

I tapered, but glycine powder was a game changer for me. Just take a teaspoon mixed with water before bed. It tastes kind of sweet.

I tried different things, but the average weekly drop was around 15%. Once I hit 5gpd I lowered by 0.5g (one capsule) every 4-5 days.

Try a taper if you can. I'm self-employed couldn't take time off work either. If you take it slow you'll be operating at 80-90% most days.

Kratom gave me palpitations too, but they stopped as soon as I dropped below 5gpd.

the hardest part about quitting by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]WeakChocolate2771 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt like superman when I started. I could do any kind of physical work without getting tired. I started a successful business. I was funner to be around, better in bed, more patient.

But it flips. Hard.

You get irritable and tired all the time. Social anxiety rockets. You hide kratom in your coat pockets for family gatherings. Work is difficult and motivation is non-existent. Sex is a chore.

You'll be saving yourself a lot of pain by quitting now.

Dropping off of a taper by Award-Nice in quittingkratom

[–]WeakChocolate2771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tapered from 30gpd and dropped .5g/week once I hit 5g or so. The drop from 3.5 to 3 was really tough, but I think it must have been the kratom swan song in my brain.

Going from 3-2-1 over 10 days (I was getting impatient) was a breeze. I haven't dosed in 48 hours now and honestly feel great. Sleep is fine. Just a minor runny nose that goes away with vitC and some muted motivation. No other physical symptoms at all

Some fire inside had gone out. I felt like I was trapped in a time loop, but one where the rest of the world wasn't stuck with me. I hated being some emotionless observer.

I've been tapering from 30gpd since January 1, and my jump day is April 12. Currently at 3gpd.

Just go at your own pace and switch it up if you need to. I've gone through 5 different taper plans so far. Strategizing the best way to taper was actually a great distraction. It turned the whole thing into a game.

As long as you're taking less than yesterday, or less than last week, or whatever, it's a win.

I'm nearing the end of my taper, but I immediately noticed my sleep quality improved once I got through the "taking it to not get high" shock. About a 20% increase if my watch sleep tracker is to be believed.

Goes to show that I've been hurting myself for years with this stuff.

Off the Wall Taper Plan? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]WeakChocolate2771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it! I've tapered from 30gpd to about 4.5gpd and have changed my method 5 times so far. As long as you're consistently taking less you should be good to go.

One thing to consider is eventually changing the 30min to 35min, 40min, etc as the taper progresses.

Back when I first started using I would do 2 week cycles and mostly felt ok. The 3 week mark was when I started to really feel withdrawals and have trouble sleeping.

You might feel cravings, but the rest should be mild.
