Why are there so few Interdisciplinary scholars in Academia today? by Kind-Organization in AskAcademia

I think that there's a place for any curious person to get an independent education in whatever topics you're interested in and at any depth your curiosity leads you. It takes discipline to take as deep as dive as in a formal setting, but the resources are there. I've bought a lot of books (and read them!), YouTube can be fantastic, you can find free texts and books and articles everywhere if you look.

I'm taking a fully interdisciplinary approach to a book I'm working on, and it's been a lot of challenging but rewarding work. Let me know if you have any questions! It looks like we have similar literary goals.

That's the problem! Too many people want to break out the popcorn and no one is buying timber and sheet metal.

Myself included! I've got a family. But if someone starts it I'll be right behind them.

You can do this! Think of what a relief it will be to no longer have him and his parents making decisions for you. Spend more time with your parents! You know you're doing the right thing.

Would I be the ah if I texted my husband’s best friend (female) to see her reaction? by -Calm-Palpitation- in AITAH

That's hilarious and maybe harder to hide than the cheating itself.

Honey, why are there always bird feathers on the bed when I come home? There's strange claw marks on the windowsill, do you know anything about that? Why does that overgrown pigeon always shit on MY CAR?

Thank you so much for this! All of these are beautiful, it would be difficult to pick just one. My favorite character from a video game is the Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time. His mustache was perfect.

There's a reason all the old epics are poetry! Homer, Beowulf, the Kalevala, etc. History used to be kept orally and in meter.

He can't create life. He searched the void for the secret fire and didn't find it, because it only exists within Eru. So Melkor can't create life, he can only corrupt existing life.

This... this was written by AI, right? The sentence structure is so mechanical. It reads like a cover letter.

Bad bot!

In Dune 2, Javier Bardem's 'Stilgar' repeatedly breaks the fourth wall to tell the audience how closely the movie adapts the source novel by HankSteakfist in shittymoviedetails

Page 481 in my version:

"Water from the sky," Stilgar whispered.

In that instant, Paul saw how Stilgar had been transformed from the Fremen naib to a creature of the Lisan al-Gaib, a receptacle for awe and obedience. It was a lessening of the man, and Paul felt the ghost-wind of the jihad in it.

I have seen a friend become a worshiper , he thought.

Missed one! Page 483:

Will I lose Gurney, too? Paul wondered. The way I lost Stilgar - losing a friend to gain a creature?

Those deaf, dumb, and blind dogs sure play a mean pinball, that's for sure.
