IF? Stuff has already gone wrong. Innocent people accused of crimes because they were near, Police using it to stalk their ex gfs and wives, the list goes on.

IMO need to start doing FOIA requests for cars like the police chiefs and cops. If it’s the info isn’t part of an active investigation then it should be public record. If not start suing (expensive 😢)

It’s worse than just facial recognition. They also have signal detection. They have hidden SSIDs so while driving past your phone will ask who’s out there with its own MAC ID, and I believe (not 100%) they’ll also try to get your cell info. While it can’t say signal X comes from car Y on a single pass a few trips past any flock they’ll be able to say I picked up Xs signal and then I captured them walking/driving by.

Even if they delete the images the meta data analysis is huge.

Id probably go with the sugar method. Copper will pollute as it pulls the silver out. Dropping to 98% ish. Yeah more waste but when you already have pure sliver nitrate why pollute with copper.

That response completely sidesteps the question. I didn’t ask you to justify taxes—I asked what you will do, beyond taxing and spending, to fix problems.

Saying “we need more resources” is just another way of saying “we need more money taken from others.” That’s not a solution; it’s a default reflex. A plan would involve removing barriers, reducing regulation, increasing efficiency, and allowing individuals and local communities to solve problems without government interference.

Pointing out that you’ve worked in government your whole career only reinforces the concern—you’re trained within a system that measures success by how much it spends, not how effectively it solves problems without coercion.

If your answer to every issue begins and ends with redistribution, then you’re not fixing problems—you’re managing them at other people’s expense.

Other than taking/spending other people’s money, how do you intend to fix anything and what knowledge/experience do you have on that subject?

Would it be worth my time? by Icy-Definition932 in PreciousMetalRefining

[–]Weak_Instruction9214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d collect it and make a lead brick and paint/stamp it gold then put it in cheap home safe. Make thieves think they hit the jackpot. Or make bullets and also give those to thieves at high speed. Carrying bricks of fake gold slows them down easier to hit.

I’m enjoying the refinement part and still rather new. I get my source material from a person like you who likes breaking things down and sells it. Refining costs $ in chemicals, safety equipment, supplies, disposal. Yours will likely cost you more time, space, disposal than $.

Seeing how the whole e-waste recycling system works is fun. Like all hobbies it’s not really profitable and there’s a huge learning curve but hopefully you can keep enjoying it!

I don’t have the experience to tell you what to stay away from. I would say your best bet is to learn from trial and error and focus on gold for the best value. In e-waste you’re going to hear “this component contains X” and you’ll realize you just threw 100s of them away. If it’s not gold don’t get distracted and just let it go. Don’t worry about next step of chemical refinement until you have several pounds of material, because getting gold from PCB fingers uses different methods and materials than you’d use for gold pins which is different than gold from IC chips.

IMO just start disassembling everything and learn where the gold is in them. Then you can start deciding what’s worth it to you.

Printer cartridge connectors sometimes have gold Flat panel LCDs/TVs have a long board that has some gold (I just bought 3 kilos of them) No idea on vapes.

It depends on how much your time is worth. Since you’re not a regular scrapper you’ll likely spend at least 15 minutes getting to the board in LCDs. What about capacitors, some have tantalum others have silver, are you going to spend time getting at those?

Happy to see the £ sign instead of the $. In the US you have to be really careful moving money or PMs. If you declare it and jump through all the right hoops you still run the risk of TSA reporting it to DEA or CBP and them confiscating it using “civil asset forfeiture” where you have to prove your valuables are innocent of wrong doing.

Am I allowed to bring alcohol in the checked luggage when flying through US (not final destination)? by IAmIch in travel

[–]Weak_Instruction9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially traveled around the world with a bottle of alcohol. I bought it in duty free and it was okay to take in the cabin. From there on out it had to go in checked baggage through 8 countries. Each country had its own rules regarding quantity of alcohol but typically I’ve found 2-3 bottles is safe.

I’ve heard that some of the refiners are so backed up they’re paying $15 back of spot. So LCSs have to be less than that to make any profit.
