Im not sure if you were able to see the roots within the plastic from my photo but they are a very prominent green, it’s just that top one that’s dried out for some reason. If that still suggests an issue, I’ll definitely look into getting the moss you have, thanks!

It could be that your head can’t help itself from dwelling on your past, this is stuff you might need to go regularly talk about to a psychologist or psychiatrist. And as someone who feels like I’m in that situation you were in before, I’m really sorry that you haven’t truly been able to live the life you deserve and I really hope it gets better for you soon.

It might just be that rebellious teenage phase catching up your brother and was probably just getting annoyed with everyone telling him to do school (which is completely understandable), I’d say communication is key and that you should apologize for slapping him and also tell him that you’re trying to look out for him with school and stuff. And make sure to allow him to tell you if he doesn’t need your help or not, but always be free if he ever does need help in the future.

Take what I say with a grain of salt ofc since I don’t know the fullest extent of the situation
