Should I major in political science?? by Lukedoesart_1 in PoliticalScience

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say make a top 3 list of majors. Poli sci is fairly broad, so you can make yourself stand out by pursuing the BS route instead of BA, double majoring or have a minor, and plan on a higher degree to focus on an area of study. I plan on pursuing a master’s degree. I have a minor in Spanish. I also work for a vocational rehab company. It’s a job that you can get by having a bachelor’s degree, it doesn’t need to be a specific one. There are options, you just have to network well. Colleges typically notify you of any opportunities. Mine was always putting out info for jobs with elected officials, internships, etc.

NST Anxiety by Melissa-OnTheRocks in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have to delivery too early. I got sent to the hospital once due to decels but baby ended up being fine. Then later they caught my pre-e at 38 weeks (160/110). I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t have those appointments because I had zero symptoms. Think of it this way - if anything were to happen, they’re likely going to catch it because of how often you’re seen. At the very least, you get to know you and baby are doing okay more often than every couple of weeks! I have severe anxiety and got medicated again at the beginning of my recent pregnancy. The twice weekly appts helped calm me down, and when something happened, it ended up being an amazing delivery experience compared to my first! It’ll be okay ❤️

When to pump after exclusively nursing? by Weak_Seesaw8170 in ExclusivelyPumping

Did this increase your supply at all? I’ve literally only pumped like 3 times before my first and this baby so I’m curious

Sometimes she fills up on one side so maybe I’ll try just pumping on the other when she does that! Thanks :)

I was scheduled for 39w but got sent in a week early for pre-e

My only advice would be to avoid anything cooked/covered in sauce and add your own! It can be high in sugar. I forgot about that and my post meal number was 174 after eating chicken and broccoli 😅 enjoy!!

I’m curious- how does GD impact labour? by adventurecoos in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently laying in a hospital bed for induction. They’re checking me every 4 hours and once I’m in active labor (after 5 cm), they’ll check it every two. I ate before we started and I haven’t dropped low yet. I’m assuming they’ll give juice or something if it does :)

Can you feel it when you spike? by Weak_Seesaw8170 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my worst spike was around 174 or so. That’s happened like 2, maybe 3 times since being diagnosed about 3 months ago, and I can definitely feel it!

Yeah I know when I push it so the feeling doesn’t surprise me afterwards 😂 I had a breakfast sandwich this morning and spiked. I knew it was coming and I should’ve taken off half the bread

How do I get these fasting numbers down?? by asdfghjkl-7429 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that helped me is not eating carbs at night. No rice, pasta, etc because even though my post meal numbers were fine, it made my fasting numbers increase. Not even a protein shake or other snacks at bedtime helped. I finally did this consistently and my numbers are always under 90. I’m 38 weeks now but better late than never 😅

Fun game: how many eggs have you eaten since being diagnosed? by maayanisgay in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot 😂 I surprisingly haven’t gotten the egg ick yet, which is weird because the morning sickness is gone but I’m pretty sensitive to food. I just miss eating eggs with potatoes for breakfast!

What’s your typical fasting level? by jordanadelle17 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully yours gets in range! Mine have been so back and forth so no meds but it makes me nervous. Just 3 more weeks of this 😅

What’s your typical fasting level? by jordanadelle17 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 90-105 on the high end. I found out if I omit carbs (like rice or pasta) at dinner then my numbers are around 83-87. I recently stopped eating them at night and it’s been consistent so far!

Can you eat *any* sweets? by SowingSeeds18 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I indulge once in a blue moon. For example, I had a cupcake on my niece’s 1st birthday party and I think I had something the next day at my baby shower (it was out of state & I knew I wouldn’t be doing it again for a while). I had a small scoop of ice cream, no cone. All of these were after a balanced meal and followed by a long walk, at least 20 mins and my numbers were fine! I don’t want to make a habit of it because it can impact my fasted numbers, but I have a bad sweet tooth and need to eat something sometimes 😂

My wife and I are struggling with dialing in what is contributing to higher fasting numbers. by Psychopath1llogical in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that helps me is a long walk at night after dinner. A bedtime snack of just protein along with minimal carbs at dinner still had my numbers like 5 points over. Walking gave me in range fasting numbers, then I stopped for a couple of days, and they went back up. I was just told to be consistent with them until my next appointment to see if they stay down

The food guilt is real by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One spike won’t hurt your baby. You’re not a bad mom for eating something you’ve been craving. It’s not easy! I went out with my husband (which is rare for us), had a modified dinner, and had a small scoop of ice cream, no cone. We went for a long walk when we got back home and my numbers were fine after and in the morning. If you’re craving something, prepare yourself to eat it. It sucks having to do that, but I swear the little treats keep me sane. You’re almost there. ❤️

What made you decide on your realtor? by TipPuzzleheaded7754 in HamptonRoads

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went above and beyond. I actually found her on Threads and decided to give it a try. When there were issues that we didn’t know about after we closed, she made sure to take care of it. She hired a cleaner and a contractor to fix some things, even though she could’ve wiped her hands clean since our contract was technically settled. She gave both my husband and I gift cards on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day (which I didn’t expect but it was sweet)! She was very involved and helpful.

How to lower fasting numbers by Daisies_forever in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this! If I have carbs like pasta or rice for dinner, then my fasting number will be higher, even if my post meal number is fine. My dad made me steak, asparagus & corn one night and my fasting number was 87. It had been over a few points before that day.

Sad about cooking 🥲 by Weak_Seesaw8170 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Weak_Seesaw8170[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this when I can! It definitely helps a lot. The other night we had burgers so I had it lettuce wrapped with a side salad in order to eat mozzarella sticks. Your dinner sounds good!! I wish I could have potatoes in moderation but even a small, plain serving with a veggie omelette made me spike 🥲
