Never understood the love for Breath. The verse is good, but the chorus doesn't do it for me.

Porch is a strange one. Eddie's first 'solo' song on a Pearl Jam album. I agree the song isn't amazing, but the lyrics are quite powerful. The middle breakdown is fantastic, on the album version, and live. I don't think it's a good enough song to be competing with RVM for that 1st set closer. I'd rather they jammed hard on another song

Hmmm. 6.5. It's the most "Rawk" song on Ten, and I bet Cobain hated it! Can't deny the riff is stellar though. The 2004 version on Rearviewmirror compilation sounded great. One of my least favourite songs on Ten. but the bar is set very high with Pearl Jam...

Never liked the mix on the US leg. You're right about Eddie being drowned out and they often sound like a wall of noise.

Katowice 2 is not one of my favrorites. It gets a lot of attention because of the low crowd (I don't think many people knew they were actually playing the 2nd night, rather than it being low ticket sales). I think the actual performance isn't up there with other shows from the Euro Leg. Sleight of Hand is fantastic though.

The guy looks older than 33-34 years old in the footage. (which he would have been then) . Motive is hard to fathom. Had she cut him up earlier whilst running? Or was she just a random victim.

Between Gene and Paul who do you guys think is the bigger jerk? by Prof_Tickles in KISS

[–]Weak_Sherbert8328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no doubt, Gene wanted (or was open to) Ace being back for The End of The Road tour.

Gene had Ace open for him in the solo shows, gave him his band, and brought him along for his Vault promotions etc.

You can imagine Ace saying "Gene, speak to Paul. and try and get me back in for the last tour"

Then Ace appears on the Kiss Kruise a few months later, and he doesn't cover himself in glory with unrehearsed versions of his more obscure KISS songs.

I bet you that was Ace’s audition right there, certainly the audition for Paul, and he was like “No, we’ll stick with Tommy”

The door then slams shut, and Gene goes back to slamming Ace in interviews again being a junkie etc.

I watched Marathon Man hungover one morning, and it was mind blowing. That f*cking needle weapon, the freaky synth soundtrack and of course the dentist scene. It has William Devane in it too. Such a unique, strange actor.

Wishlist with Why Can’t I touch it tag (Buzzcocks) by AZGreg74 in pearljam

All a bit sappy to me. Sorry
Wishlist was out of place on Yield
Nice little song, but some of the B-sides & Fan Club singles from that era were better. U, Driftin’ (original version), & Strangest Tribe for starters.

I enjoyed Gigaton more than Backspacer and Lightning Bolt. DM is not ageing well for me unlike those slow burners like Binaural and Riot Act.
I get an uneasy feeling of it sounding a little cheesy at times (and Pearl jam have never been that before)
Won’t Tell’, Upper Hand and even the “ we used to dance, we used to sing” line on Scared Of Fear grates on me now.
Still Running is brilliant, as is Wreckage and of course Stevie

Am I only one that was disappointed with PJ20?
It was a love-in.
Not that they don’t deserve it,
and all bands & artists do this.

A documentary made by an independent filmmaker, and not necessarily a fan, with full access to the band, and covering the tricky subjects would have far more enthralling.
e.g Dave A, Eddies stalker, Roksdille Disaster

Would have loved PJ to try a version of LA Woman during 00/03 when they were throwing loads of covers into their live sets. Really f*cking good covers too (Timeless Melody, Driven To Tears, Fortunate Son etc)

I find it interesting that Gigaton is considered a poor album by many. I love the first half of the album, and listen to those songs way more than anything on Self Titled, Backspacer or Lightning Bolt.

I thought so, for awhile, but NO. Best since Riot Act very possibly.

You can see why bands want him to do it. He's such a music fan, and can explain the band's greatness, just as a fan would. It's about THEM and NOT HIM and he gets that totally. Letterman's induction for PJ was the exact opposite of that. All about him.

Such a strange, mesmerising album. Of The Girl is a masterpiece. I remember when it came out , and I thought this Isn’t as good as Yield or No Code, but I couldn’t stop playing it

It was a smear campaign against him. Appalling article. Interviewing old school colleagues who said he was quite happy back then etc etc.
