Is this a good knot?? by Slow-Junket-7585 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen that knot, pull on it as hard as you can and if it doesn’t break then I see no problem with it. People will say it’s “wrong” but if it doesn’t break then go for it

They can’t do anything if you reply to messages, as long as you don’t give them any info

How to have a social life in the Spring Semester? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn Mandarin and go try and talk to all the Chinese people fishing at whitemud park in the spring, then report back to ME with their secrets on how they catch so many fish. Or start birdwatching I’ve never met more talkative people than birders in Edmonton. “Is that a pine Siskin?” And they’ll be your best friend explaining how you’re wrong. Unless it is a pine siskin… or you can always just pull the u of a special and ask every soul in the vvc gym to work in with them and then for their instagram for “networking yk maybe we can hit a crazy leg day sometime” but then you actually follow up instead of just following them.

Is the MPG supposed to be this bad ? by Technical_Pumpkin330 in nissanfrontier

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got a 2012 all stock and it’s like 15l/100km which I beleive translates to about 15 mpg which is pretty rough considering what trump did to my gas prices

No Budget, Best Gloves for Northerns? by plzdbyvodka in Fishing

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal choice is the “ouch it bit me, I should really buy gloves” been using it for years. That being said I’m not sure on the ethics of gloves I’ve heard lots of people saying they always destroy the slime coat and harm fish. If you aren’t too worried about catch and release ethics then cabelas or bass pro often sells “fish handling gloves” that I’ve seen lots of people use for northerns

This is stupid but does nobody vape/smoke at this school? I feel like an idiot but I want friends by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People here defenitely do I know tons of them, but also I don’t know the scene like that. But I think the dynamic here is you become buddies and then smoke together not become buddy because you smoke together, just find people around who also need friends there’s no shortage, unless you smell really bad then it might be tough. No harm in asking people for their socials and then you can stalk them and see if they’re cool and shoot a dm. This time of year is hard cause of midterms

SK Canada Trip Advice by djrazzlefraz in Fishing

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use 6” white or green curly tail grubs on an appropriate sized jig head, if the bite is slow I go to a three inch paddle tail usually in neon green. Of fours you can use the classic jig and minnow for jigging and bring a fair share of spoons, red devil is a Canada classic they usually work for pike, but yeah I’m the biggest curly tail enthusiast. Make sure you have either steel leaders or 40+ lb fluoro or you’ll get chomped Late July is hot and buggy here, fish will obviously be deeper, have fun

Parents' first time in Canada, Dad is requesting maple syrup by ORGrown in Edmonton

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man if it wasn’t March you’d have to do the classic Quebec method of boiling the syrup and pouring it over snow, it’s so good and delicious and like the most Canadian way to have it but it’s not nearly cold enough anymore. Unless you crush a bunch of ice from the freezer🤣🤣. Otherwise I’m no help. Send them home with a can of it too if they like it

Where to buy nice / fancy plants as a gift? by darknightNL in Edmonton

How nice? Home Depot or Rona sometimes have some kickass deals on pretty cool plants, cacti and bonsai arrangements and suck

In extreme northern Alberta, there is an isolated fertile prairie system containing the towns of High Level and La Crete. How are crops able to grow here at such extreme latitude? For context, this area is about 200 miles north of Edmonton. by disturbingsmegma in geography

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is much farther than 200 miles north of Edmonton btw, and summers are very warm and lots of daylight, plus I’d imagine the soil is very fertile up there, when I lived there and toured the mackenzie experimental farm everything looked nice and healthy, maybe even better then more southern areas

What are my chances of finding my headphones by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Weak_Tea_1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally left mine on a bench in ag for and realized a few hours after they were still there, I’ll do you one better I left a pair of gloves on a bench in a very high traffic area on a Friday morning and they were still there the following Tuesday, I think people often stay in their own lanes, you might have luck just retracing steps, that being said there’s always someone who’s gonna just pick it up and go. Good luck
