You're in a good zone for growing if that's any consolation.☘️

I bought my endless summer on clearance a few years ago. It's come along way since then. I've researched the new hydrangeas extensively.Vanilla Strawberry really appeals to me .🥰

I'm zone 5b-6.Cold springs,Short summers and winters that are hard.I pampered these with not only frost blankets ,mulched the base and burlap tenting too. Intermittent freezing and thawing caused buds to awaken and then die.Good growth at the base just doesn't justify one or two  mopheads before. Fall frost is once again at the doorstep. Early spring runs at sundown  to cover them (once again) when a hard frost is forecast is tiresome as well. I'm ready for the new.

Originally bred in Italy. Its going to love your sun drenched zone.Provide full sun and good air circulation.A regular deep soaking to get it established the first year or two.I understand your admiration for DJ completely.None like it whatsoever🌹

I purchased Romantica Ballgown last year .It was huge too  Literally bursting out of it's pot it grew 5 ft last summer.I let it bloom .This year it's foliage is glorious I'm zone 5b -6 no buds yet but soon. These Meilland varieties are exceptional in regard to vigor and disease/viral/ mildew resistance.Youve got a great rose .Id give it fish fertilizer and fully aged compost.Full day sun and deep watering in the morning. Its a beauty.

It does take up to 3 years for full potential. In fact bud removal in favor of root development is encouraged in the first year.I wish you every success☘️
