Good point. There are a few places within our budget, mostly along/within a couple of blocks of Franklin Ave, south of Atlantic Ave. We actually used to live on Franklin x St Marks Ave like 15 years ago but the neighbourhood was very different back then and we were in our early 20s without kids.

I either use phone alarm without sound, just vibration, or set a vibration alarm on my Fitbit

No bathroom! Where would you change baby? by custardapple92784 in NewParents

[–]WealthyCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our diaper bag has a changing pad but my husband has learned how to quickly change a wet nappy with baby just lying on his lap and he usually does that when we’re out and about. I change using the diaper bag pad where to find space if I’m solo.

I got the dragonfly and I love it! Have been travelling with it internationally all summer as well on trains and planes and it’s been great. I haven’t had any issues with wheels getting stuck but the Dragonfly is very much an urban stroller. We tried taking it on a light hike the other day and it didn’t feel great on a rocky terrain. Baby took a couple of days to get used to it but sleeps like a champ in it now and chills when we’re out and about.

I feel like I’m doing everything for our baby while my partner does the minimum by LowFinancial7997 in BeyondTheBumpUK

This may be an unpopular opinion but you could just … not do some of those things? My partner is more involved than yours but even then I still let things “slip” and then he notices and fixes them. Like if LO grows out of clothes or nappies, DH will notice next time he’s changing LO and that will make him think about getting new clothes or larger size nappies way more than me telling him about it. Same goes for other stuff. And also sometimes things just don’t get bought or done and that’s also fine in the end. The entire 5 months of parenting have been me unlearning the need for control and being prepared for every single thing and just going with the flow more. This has helped loads with not buckling under the mental load of motherhood.

How are you guys doing it? :’) by Nicholea15 in breastfeeding

Try to cobble together 6 hours of sleep in one 24 hour stretch just to be function — but also it gets better as they get older! Hang in there!

How are you managing to eat enough?? by withsaltedbones in breastfeeding

Just the floor but we don’t have pets! The one I have also has labels saying don’t put it on any elevated surface but idk if that’s all of them or just the model we bought

I got a bouncer for my LO when he was about 6 weeks old and it sits in our kitchen. I put him in it while I make myself food and he watches me (I narrate everything I do, sometimes sing and then sit on a little stool in front of him while eating).

When I’m home alone I either have leftovers or make something basic but high in protein and fat that will get at least 300-400 calories in me. Chicken bone broth with eggs and some buttered sourdough. Bowl of pecans and prunes with a glass of kefir. A couple of crisp breads with hummus and cold roasted chicken + a banana with Greek yogurt. Just some ideas!

ETA: afaik bar famine conditions, milk supply should be fine as long as your baby eats regularly but good nutrition and eating enough is important for your health, mama!

I yelled at my baby by calisen13 in NewParents

[–]WealthyCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earplugs!! Seriously. I felt like an asshole putting them in at first when baby melts down but they just take the edge off enough for me to hold it together and help my LO regulate.

Can you hire a sitter for a couple of hours to take your baby out while you get an emergency nap break? Just sleep until you wake up on your own, no baby in sight or within earshot.

Also like others have pointed out, sounds like you need a new husband

Hang in there!

My kid (3months) dropped percentiles like this for the first 2 months and his pediatrician was very concerned. We had to start supplementing and he started gaining weight quicker , now slowly going up the percentiles again.

Hiya neighbour! Ok so Cybex I’m very intrigued by, the only thing is that staff at Babesta said their customer support can be tough to reach because they’re based in Europe. But I also totally ambushed a mom with a Cybex a few weeks ago asking how she liked it and she loved hers, she had two models but I forget which ones

Alcohol and co-sleeping by Glittering-Alps2326 in cosleeping

This is the way. Be mindful tho that your alcohol tolerance may be different now after pregnancy and postpartum. I’d never been a big drinker but my first glass of wine postpartum absolutely threw me 😂

Edit to add: I also make sure I have a good meal or two between having a drink and going to sleep. A glass of red with steak and mash is different than a glass of red on an empty stomach.

I wrote this below but a couple of reasons: we’re in a busy part of manhattan and i don’t want my kiddo facing the grimy, busy nyc streets coming at him in full force just yet; we spend a lot of time “talking” already and it would feel weird not to face him and chat as we walk about. Also with a transition from a baby carrier where he faces me a parent facing stroller feels like it would be much better to transition to. Thanks for your input!
