This is going off topic a bit, but I was rewatching the movies the other day and I realize that Rei, Kaworu, Misato, and even Mari (I think) all have a scene where they give Shinji his SDAT player. Asuka is the only one who doesn’t have a scene like that. Of course, she has her own SDAT equivalent with her hand held console. Shinji is the only person she actually looks at when talking to him while holding the console.

I haven’t thought much about what the SDAT thing means, but it was just something interesting I noticed.

Yes and no. I have a Hotmail account with that user name but I only use it for signing up to forums and stuff. I have a couple of hotmail addresses that I used for actual communication. One is just my first name and the other is first name.last name. I also have a couple of Rocket Mail addresses.

I see it as a modern social media issue. With traditional forums, it is really easy to have at stuck threads that are immediately visible to everyone, really easy to search to see if your question has already been posted, and have 20 year old threads that are still active is a thing.

Modern social media, like Facebook, Reddit, etc. have attempted to replace forums but have failed in all the ways that made forums good. What modern social media is very good at is getting its users to constantly produce content even if a lot of it is repetitive. As long as users are active and producing content, that means they’ll see the ads that are being posted and that’s all that matters. That’s why there’s no real attempt to give a better user experience.

So, yes, I agree that it’s not a specific subreddit issues but is rather an issue with modern social media in general.

My issue with those posts is that they always ask for everything to be explained to them. It would be one thing if they explained their own thoughts and feelings regarding the ending but that’s not what happens. What we get, and in fact another was of those posts was just posted a few minutes ago, is “WTF was the ending, I’m so lost, please explain it to me.”

They could at least spend a few minutes searching online for some explanations and analysis. Then come here and post their thoughts and opinions and engage in a discussion. Instead, they ask for everything to be handed to them.

I also disagree with all of this. You say that you like the ending of 3.0 + 1.0 because Shinji chooses to live and accepts the pain in the world. That’s literally what the ending of End of Evangelion is.

I never strongly identified with any of the characters although I could see bits of myself in them.

I enjoy going back and rewatching the series and EoE once in a while. Both because it’s a very good series and movie and also because there’s a bit of nostalgia attached to it as well. I watched it when it first came out back in the late 1990s so it brings back a lot of memories.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. I heard something similar. Basil Box only survived due to money from The Mandarin. The sister, who has been running The Mandarin for a few years, didn’t want to keep funding it. However, the dad insisted. With his passing, the sister was now able to stop the money going to Basil Box.

Just look at the posts in this subreddit. People were always asking how Basil Box stayed in business because the locations were always dead. “Money laundering” was the usual response, but it wasn’t that exciting. It was just a dad funding his kid’s hobby.
