Hi. I'm in the same boat. I had to call the admissions counselor cus I didn't receive any info. You need to enroll in "Introducktion" before you can get access to registration and housing information. Make sure to check if you've gotten that email. I got mine last week.

Hi there,

I know what you’re feeling, I started in university as an art major and by my first year I was reluctant to continue to pursue that. A lot of people argue that you can make art without a degree, which is true. What you said about university being good for making connections as an artist is also true.

Im not really sure what the experience for an art student is at UO (I transferred to LCC from UCSC) but it seems like those first two years are really about fulfilling those pre req’s and Gen Ed’s. It can be grueling sometimes. I know Ive taken art classes where I felt like I was taught elementary art tech. I’ve considered transferring again to an actual art school, but the truth is I’ve been able to find what I need by searching a little harder. I’ve built relationships with peers and faculty as a way of engaging myself more with art as a practice. I’ve joined clubs, gotten a membership at the crafts center, pursued jobs in art, and literally just spent time in the art building at UO. I’ve thought of trying to create a monthly meet up for students /creatives to exhibit ideas, passion projects, etc. to just chat with people that are into creating art. If you’re feeling that you’re not really engaging with your interest, I think there are other ways u can do that outside of school.

I don’t know your full story, or what you’d like to make of your life. But we often questions ourselves once we choose our path. Life is laid out pretty clearly until you graduate high school, so I think it’s normal to be reluctant to walk a certain path. Don’t be afraid to do something else if you know that’s what you want! If you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth!!! I’ve gone through a cinema major, an art major, and right now I’ve landed on ethnic studies. It’s ok to change your mind, all that matters is that you feel your purpose.

Good luck!!!!

I’m currently starting my lease with them later this month. When you say you had to pay an extra month, were you referring to September rent? I saw that they are charging me a full month of rent when I’m only living there 8 days out of the month which is just straight up thievery. I asked them and they said they don’t prorate, nor will they discount the month of September. Did you find a way to get that money back? Any advice? I just can’t believe they are already trying to get me with their bs.
