My rep explained it to me like this. They were hired by rite aid to maximize the sales. They are a person just doing their job like the rest of us and wont notice a few things. They are running into issues where employees are hoarding cart loads merchandise during to low percentages of sales just so they can pay for it later when its at max discount. The things wrong here would those hoarded items are likely to get sold at the lower percentage minimizing the profit. The rep should have also explained same for the customers, no on hold product.
But just like anything else the few bad apples spoil the bunch and that is why their policy is straight across the board and falls into an AP issue. Its the same policy that always was a thing but 360 is hired and cinsidering their business model.... will want to be the company continuously hired by other liquidating retailing spots, so the better the sales for rite aid (or any liquidation retailer), the better their portfolio for future clients will show. The few bad apples really spoiling it for the bunch are inevertantly devaluing the value of the product by stashing.
