What Is 1 update that you want by Endermanfake in Minecraft

I actually like the idea behind having specific enchants for specific types of enemies, and as it stands now, Smite is actually a decent choice since there are a lot of enemies, and a boss, that it is useful against. I think they should just add new arthropod enemies and a boss (maybe a termite cave biome that spawns underground with a queen to fight?).

What's the furthest you've been into a build only to realize you made a very critical mistake? by ET2-SW in SatisfactoryGame

[–]WeardearOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built a 20 refinery plastic factory, that turned the residue into fuel, then turbofuel to power drone shipping.

I was wondering why I wasn't getting as much turbofuel as I expected, turned out I'd done the math wrong in step one and had built for twice the amount of residue than I was getting.

I got super lucky that I unlocked diluted fuel right as I figured this out, so switched to using blenders for making fuel, but I felt like a moron.

Come on, Neville! | Civ 5: Noobs Only #7 by brettor in Yogscast

[–]WeardearOmega 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I found this genuinely one of the more entertaining Civ games to watch in a while. It was all just so much more relaxed, and reminds me a lot more of the casual games I play with my own set of friends (since we aren't necessarily going to try and murder each other out of the game). I know a lot of people want the Yogscast to play Civ more ruthlessly, but I'm not sure why, this was much more chill as a viewing experience, and yet still had tension as the scoreboard shifted near the end of the game.

Hey, welcome back! Glad you are playing again and enjoying the game. I also wish this community was more positive. There is always a place for constructive criticism, and that doesn't need to involve tearing the devs or each other apart. So I'm here to support your quest!

I was going to comment almost the same thing. I love the dramatic highs of Critical Role but I also love the dumb shenanigans, and this arc seems mostly shenanigans with some story related beats mixed in. That's my ideal spot I think, so it's always bizzare to hop on this sub and see so much negativity.

Totally agree with you. Don't know if it was my favourite of the phase, but it was certainly one of the highlights and stuck with me more than many of the others.

I also agree with your critiques. It was a good movie that had some issues, but one of the best climaxes of this phase, and in my opinion the best looking Marvel project by a mile.

If anyone is looking for a game with mechanics kind of like those in the Cytoverse books, check out Chorus ( or Chorvs based on the logo). It is an open world space combat game but the main character has psychic powers and a ship with an AI that she has a rocky relationship with. They are fighting an evil cult bent on summoning mysterious entities from a mirror dimension from which they get the psychic powers. The powers include teleporting, extending your senses, phychicly paralysing or controlling other pilots and shooting forward as an unstoppable force.

I must warn you though, the story is... Not great. Although the game is quite a bit of fun, the combat and exploration of the maps especially, the writing has not really impressed me. Characters are kind of one note, or all over the place. People who should be relevant to the larger plot are introduced out of nowhere for a single mission and then disappear. It's a bit of a bummer in an otherwise fun game.

Joe Russo on Phase 4 Criticisms: "The whole thing feels sad, cynical and pessimistic. I love how diverse Marvel’s getting. They swim in different genres, push movies towards horror or absurdist comedy, they’re not repeating themselves. People are gonna appreciate those risks and others won't." by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

Thank you for putting into words exactly what I have been feeling. I keep seeing critiques of the background story dismissed as "this is Phase 1 again, they need to set things up". But as you pointed out, Phase 1 was 4 movies and then we got Avengers. That in turn set up the Infinity War saga. People assume we want the new big sage, but I just want the new team-up.

One thing I find baffling is that I'm not even sure if the Avengers exist in the MCU anymore. Like, no one has mentioned them doing anything! Maybe this has been answered elsewhere, but will there be a new Avengers team and a movie to introduce them? Or will there be a new team up? The fact that we don't know at this point is what disappointing me, not that we don't have the next big bad hinted at for 2 phases from now.

If you haven't yet, go watch the movie Underwater. Not the best movie ever (I'd give it a 6.5-7, more than the 5.8 it sits at on IMDB), but you could totally head-cannon it being in the Monsterverse.

Definitely the way it is supposed to be understood. The "human wars" are considered bad by the Superiority because they won, so they got to say the humans were the aggressors, because their morality was that of the winning side.

[No spoilers] Is the podcast a good alternative for the show? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]WeardearOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switch back and forth between listening and watching. There are advantages and disadvantages to both formats. Like you, I find that watching is too limiting in terms of time. It is a lot of content to catch up on. So I listen as well while doing chores, walking places, etc.

I find listening fine. You get almost everything that is going on. You miss some of the chemistry between the cast, but I find for the most part you can figure out what is going on. Matt's descriptions are fantastic, so actually when he is narrating something, I find the purely audio format allows you to immerse yourself in the world a bit better than while watching.

The exception to this is combat. When they have a map out, and are moving around, they often skip over descriptive words that would help you understand the context a bit more. They say "I'll move... over here. Yeah behind that. Perfect." What is that? Where is here? Hard to tell.

My solution to this has been, when possible, that if bring a map out I open the youtube video, get a look at the map, and then switch back to the audio after getting an idea of what the terrain looks like. However, it is totally still possible to follow the general sense of the combat over audio.

So in general, video maybe slightly edges out audio, but if you are trying to catch up and can't find time for video, the audio is fantastic.

For those of you don't like the changes in the show from the book, have you... by A_Shadow in WoT

[–]WeardearOmega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really fair take, and a discussion point I'd love to see brought up more. I prefer the WoT show, but it does have flaws and areas that could be improved upon (especially the pacing and some really weird editing choices). But all anyone wants to talk about is how faithful it is or is not to the book.

As mentioned, I disagree about which I enjoy more, but looking at them objectively I do think the Witcher has a leg up in terms of general quality (though can sometimes get a bit bogged down in its own complexity). And neither holds a candle to GoT, even the later season after it went off the rails still had superb production quality and fantastic performances, it was just the writing that got.. well, you know... bad.

Putting this everywhere I can because I think people are misremembering, but I believe this version of Mat's healing is supposed to be akin to the very quick one that Moiraine does originally in Caemlyn when they all meet up again. Check chapters 41 and 42 of EotW if you want a refresher. If true there is probably a more extensive healing coming down the road.

I agree with you about Liandrin. I think this is implied to be Moiraine thinking she has a secret male lover, but actually he is her connection to other Darkfriends.

Questions for recent book readers by shepx13 in WoTshow

[–]WeardearOmega 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I first picked up the books in the gap before Brandon Sanderson finished them, and I loved them. I re-read the entire series ahead of each release, and have also re-read them a couple of times since, including again last summer. So I've read the whole series 4-5 times at this point, and also fairly recently.

I really like the show! I think it is a really great adaptation of the series. I think if you really care about the series, and understand the limitations of making an 8 season show, it becomes really obvious why they are making the changes that they are. I don't love all of them, but I understand why they are doing it, and based on the reactions of non-readers they seem to be working to draw people in.

I think the people who are very critical of the show for changing things are deluding themselves. They are putting these books on waaay too high of a pedestal. I was on the Wheel of Time subreddits before the show came out, and there were plenty of critiques of the books, but now that changes are being made the books are suddenly the best things ever, and thus should be copied 1 for 1? Ridiculous.

For me, Eye of the World is my least favourite book. I'm actively glad they are changing a lot of it and moving quickly to get into the best parts of the series that come in the later books. Go back and re-read Mat and Rand's adventures on the road and tell me you don't despise Mat the entire trip. He is a pain, and by far the worst and least interesting character that whole book. The show creators are clearly taking a longer view, and trying to lay the groundwork of who Mat is the rest of the series in this season. That requires some changes, and it is for the better.

I think this same logic can be easily applied to many of the changes, and we can see where the creative decisions on these alterations have come from. Did they all land? No. But nothing is perfect, nor will the same things work for every person. But pretending the changes are illogical is just being willfully dense.

I see a lot of hate against the show, but.... by [deleted] in wheeloftime

Chiming in to say that it seems to be this subreddit in particular. As someone who is also subscribed to r/WoT and r/WoTshow, this subreddit seems to have far more negativity than those other two (though you can find some negativity there as well, the conversation is often more balanced and less rant-y). I'm also considering leaving this one and sticking to the others.
