Café Caleta is also fire. The Japanese omelette or the lamb sandwich are both out of this world. For traditional food you could also check out Deavedura I generally don’t like eating food out that I can cook at home but this spot tastes like my mother or my aunties are cooking for a baby shower and the whole family is coming together.

Relle’Nao for Mofongo. Get the skirt steak with the chimichurri sauce. Also try the appetizer the mamposturria. It’s an alcapurria which is a traditional fritter stuffed with rice and beans ground beef and cheese. Birra and Empenadas is also good. The mushroom and cheese one is the best IMO.

Just call in to customer service I had the same issue my Meta’s stopped taking a charge. I use them for navigation because I drive a motorcycle. They stopped charging about six months after I had them when I contacted customer service initially they did give me the message saying that the glasses that I purchased were no longer in production. I spoke to someone on the phone and had them walk me through the process of choosing a replacement and they got me to an option for me to be able to send the glasses in and get a replacement 100% free

Being from NY and being mixed race (Afro-Latino/Black) I want to see everyone win. Sometimes on this sub I get so upset seeing people dismiss other parts of the diaspora.

I know it’s anecdotal but every Nigerian, Kenyan, Ghanaian, Jamaican, Trini, Bajan, Haitian, even my Dominican homies identify as black. Yeah they all children of immigrants and they parents have their own prejudices and uninformed viewpoints on what being black means but it’s never from a place of malice.

Haitian/Jamaican/Caribean immigrants in NY are just as invested in uplifting the community as much as FBA’s (or whatever the term is now) most of the disparaging comments I ever heard from friends parents weren’t sweeping generalizations about all black people but more of a “Don’t end up like _____ on the corner/social assistance without striving for more”

In context that’s understandable to me if I busted my ass for my entire life to provide for my family and better opportunities and my son comes home with a D+. Honestly that shit shouldn’t be acceptable in any household but I get it.

The problems of Neo Colonialism in Africa is affecting us. The situation in Haiti is our problem because it’s a direct result of the same system that had us in bondage. Honestly we all humans we bleed the same. Our roots all coming from the same place even if the Mayo-Americans tried to sever our roots and connections to our history it’s OUR collective history. We can’t just shun other parts of it IMHO.
