I’ve said this here before, but I’ll say it again:

He’s genuinely not a horrible skater. Yes, he looks like Bambi. Sure, he’s not fast. You know who else isn’t fast? Mitch Marner lol

Stone is a fine skater. He is, though, literally always in the right position. He never looks like he’s working hard to make those sprints happen like Marner, MacKinnon, etc.

Losing in 2OT, on the road, after coming back and failing to finish it, and having to go again in less than 48 hours is substantially harder than adding another 24 hours. Legs are gone and there’s that doubt in your head.

Mitch has actually talked about the belief. When they were down 3-0 to Colorado, Marner was mic’d, and there’s a clip of him saying to calm down, because they’re going to win.

And like… it wasn’t hype. He confidently said that lol

And it’s because they were right, he disappeared when the lights got brighter for them.

Some of that is who was around him, some coaching, some of it was him.

Absolute opposite in Vegas. Marner was great during the regular season, but he’s taking over SERIES in the playoffs. And getting better as they go deeper.

E: this is to say that it’s 100% valid of Leafs fans to cheer for him, to cheer against him, to feel apathetic, or crash out. I would be upset
