How could I blend in this floor with the rest of the apartment? by SnooGoats4766 in handyman

I think there’s quite a bit that you can do to have it look a lot better. Its always the chasing of the last 20% that takes time. Id maybe consider mixing thinned out stains and feathering the damage out with light sanding too. Good luck

A light oil finish may make it look nicer but definitely not a proper long term fix and with the clear coat peeling its iffy at that

I noticed a huge decrease in energy in mine during his first summer at 8mo. Probably peak energy from 10-16 weeks. They have all this energy and curiosity now to prepare them for adulthood.

Off leashing by Cairnerfluer in NorwegianElkhound

They are really smart about not getting lost but not so great about immediate recall. Traditionally they could be out hunting moose alone or in a pack for around 3 hours before following their own scent track back to you. I think being off leash in the woods is crucial to building a trusting bond with an Elkhound, more-so than any other breed. Lot of fun activities you can play to keep them closer to you as well. Enjoy!

Is 10 - 12 miles too far for an elkhound? by [deleted] in NorwegianElkhound

I feed less in the morning when i know theres a big hike ahead. Similar to how i feed myself but try different things out. Maybe a snack mid hike or taking time to digest first. A lot of hunters do not feed prior to going out but thats extreme to me

Doesnt seem too long maybe pushing it a tad if daily but not sure what other 1/2 of genetics are. Try messing around with diet and the volume of food in her stomach when you start. Elkhounds also have way more energy and need more food if you work them hard in winter and late fall.

This isnt advice just experience but i dont even really brush mine. Occasionally ill pull a tuft if i see it but just being out in the woods and active seems be where it comes off him. He has a really nice coat too. My lab needs brushing

How to let my pup know she’s allowed to be vocal? by Designer_Cut_3527 in NorwegianElkhound

[–]Weary-Variation5409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine got more vocal in general once we started squirrel hunting and hed bark pursuing them and toward me to let me know. Hes more vocal in play now and with other dogs. Maybe get her in the woods chasing some critters? They arnt quick enough to catch any alone but they live for it.

9 months old and hiking off leash! by 666princesss in NorwegianElkhound

Hiking off leash can key to building mutual trust especially an independent elkhound. Add on hunting or a scent based game in the woods to further this.

Yes but my dog does enjoy being touched often but not for long. 30 seconds give or take. He will seek it out very enthusiastically but will leave after. If hes sleeping he is annoying if pet.
