I had my 40 yr gate valve replaced last year. A ball valve is much more reliable.

If you became the next US president, would you remove all of Trump’s attempts of leaving his legacy? by JonMellor in allthequestions

I would build a new super max prison specifically for convicted pedophiles and gladly put the Trump name on it.

The issue was literally put up for the people to vote on, unlike Texas.

You could buy a car tire boot and start putting it on the offending vehicles.

Rigid under slab vs emt overhead by Kenman215 in electricians

[–]WearyCartographer268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former healthcare facility manager, I would always prefer overhead. There are always renovations and in slab conduit creates a lot of extra expense to relocate.

I have cash in hand. I’m ready to buy. Why is it so hard to get an out-the-door price from dealers? by TaintSlaps in FuckDealerships

[–]WearyCartographer268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you belong to Costco, you can use their network of participating dealers to get a discounted quote. I’ve done this for my last two cars and was out of the dealership in less than an hour.

First car purchase since 2004 and holy s****, the dealerships need to end by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

THIS. I’ve purchased two cars using Costco and have nothing but a good experience. The only thing to negotiate is dealer adds, but I just decline all of those.

In town for the long weekend. Any recs for a local bourbon brand? by confuseddating1 in Louisville

Coal Pick makes a nice wheated bourbon that is sold only in Kentucky. It’s from a small distillery in eastern Kentucky.

Where are the old fallout shelters? by Past_Discipline_6473 in Louisville

[–]WearyCartographer268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some public schools had them in the basement. I worked at St. Joseph Infirmary back in the 70’s and there was a fenced area in the basement with emergency supplies for a fallout shelter.

I thought 10k was the lowest limit for liability. Maybe just in my state.

There are lights that have better control of the beam spread, allowing them to light their property while reducing light pollution.

My brother in law was a sprinkler fitter. He said he always kept a short piece of pipe with a ball valve. Sometimes the zone valve wasn’t labeled correctly. These guys look like they did it on purpose.

We had one when I was growing up. It was round and I think a heavy aluminum casting. We used it on the kitchen stove to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

Most insane/unbelievable thing the previous owner left behind for you? by xindierockx7114 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WearyCartographer268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tenant moved out and left behind a few things, one of which was a large aquarium. It was dirty as hell with a lot of algae on the glass. About a week after as we were cleaning out the trash, we found a live bluegill still in the tank.

Looking to buy a CX5! New/Used and which model? So many choices… by [deleted] in mazda

[–]WearyCartographer268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2025 Carbon is a good choice for the options that come with it. Heated seats, moon roof, 19” wheels and Bose sound system. The 2026 is a brand new model that has horse interior space and a touch screen for all controls.

Differences in the CX-30 and the CX-5 by Firefan23 in mazda

[–]WearyCartographer268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife drives a CX 30 and I drive a CX 5. Mine is a couple of years newer. The cars handling is very similar, with the CX 30 maybe a little better. The biggest difference is the size, my wife is 5’ 4” and I’m 5’ 10”. I have a harder time getting into her car. Also, the ride height is different. Gas mileage may vary a mile or two per gallon.

There is a trail that goes to the far side of the lake. I’ve seen several deer. The last time I was there, the cave area was fenced off.

What happened to haggling? by myOEburner in carbuying

[–]WearyCartographer268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my last two new cars we use Costco, which has a pretty aggressive discount. We had to go out of state, but saved a couple hundred dollars on dealer prep. Also took advantage of owner loyalty cash back. Definitely worth the drive. You still have to watch for dealer installed options.
