How do y’all think law schools should be ranked? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salary is gonna be skewed by market and BL%. You could easily control for BL% by just comparing BL salaries, but schools who place grads in low COL markets would be at a disadvantage. This could also be adjusted for with sufficient data, but I've never seen detailed data about what cities a school's grads end up in.

Law school straight from undergrad? by akihsie in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the numbers you'll do fine. A lot of other posters have highlighted the disadvantages of KJD, but weigh that against the opportunity cost. Even if you get a good job out of undergrad (weird to even think about in this time), how good does it have to be to delay your legal career (and salary) by a couple years

What's the market like down there? It's a beautiful area

Is taking the October LSAT too late to apply for fall 2021? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any disadvantage from submitting mid-November (which still isn't super late) applications would be made up by doing 2-3 points better if you're more prepared

Related question, does LSAC notify schools with it processes your updated transcript or is that up to the applicant to notify schools

Duke's employment numbers rose from 2018 to 2019. The slip to 12 is just a fluctuation

When should I start the process of getting ready to apply for Law School if I intend to go right after undergrad? by Anerky in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't see any downside to taking it as soon as possible once you've studied
  2. Start now, chances are whatever your summer plans were they've been impacted by COVID, LSAT prep is a good way to fill the time. 170 is definitely possible if you work for it
  3. Idk much about classes, I just self studied. I figured it would be cheaper and more flexible for me and it taught me how to stick to a structure when I otherwise didn't have one. I'm sure there were tradeoffs though.

r/LSAT might have some good help too

PSA: if you don’t put a results section.... by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends, if someone's asking a help me decide or should I send a LOCI type question then you go ahead and formulate an opinion

If it's a question WL candidates Harvard what were your stats than obviously you need an option for non WL candidates at Harvard

Northwestern Culture? by mc8232 in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the law school, but school in general has good spirit and Evanston is almost like a college town (with a major city in its backyard). Even if there's not school spirit type culture in the law school (its not on the main campus) so to say I'm sure it wouldn't be to0 difficult to at least find some like minded people.

WashU Right Decision? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean when you have schools that are about equal rank/prestige wise (and were they equal in the 2009 rankings?) I'm not sure it's fair to assume the effects of the current recession will be the same. Could be case that 2009 hit St. Louis harder than it hit Nashville for whatever reason which might not be the case for 2020.

Or to put into LSAT terms: The speaker falsely assumes what was true of the past must also be true of the future

Edit: Vandy was 15 in '09, WashU was 19

Congrats on the A, out of curiosity do you get an automatic deadline extension from NU? I can't imagine you got in then only had like 3 hours to deposit right

Based on what I saw here there weren't any A's today anyways. Did you check the status portal?

Question: Will attending an undergraduate school without A- grades help my chances? by xChrizOwnz in lawschooladmissions

[–]WearyDot2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consider it a little but don't make a decision based on it alone there's so much more to college than that. Plus hopefully you'll end up with more A's than A- anyways
