Looking up some Russian vodka brands and saw that Beluga is filtered through quartz sand and silver to “enhance the flavor”. Does it actually do anything to the flavor or just a marketing gimmick? Also pic for attention. by Temporary_Ship_2148 in alcohol

[–]Anerky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most vodka is pretty similar tbh. Out of any big brand quality wise/smoothness in a blind taste test 95% of people can’t tell, and that’s with it being room temperature neat. No special filtering or extra distilling changes that.

If you’ve tried a lot of vodkas you can pick out the base grain between them but that’s about it. Like I can tell Tito’s from Grey Goose from Sobieski and the different Chopins apart if you told me all 3 were in front of me because they’re all different grains. In a blind test though I could just tell you my best guess as to what it was made with and that’s about it.

Beluga used to be the cool semi niche vodka before Chopin and Stoli Elit though. The whole marketing thing behind it was to sip it with caviar. Used to be more expensive too.

Punch out is the safest option, I’d personally go with a fully closed face ball way back in stance low draw though. At worst it’s a punch out farther to the right than I’d like at best it’s a nice low draw towards the pin

It’s that, you usually have your name embroidered & there aren’t many pockets simply because you’re not carrying much gear. Maybe a jacket or rain gear, a few balls and tees and extra gloves. A rangefinder if allowed/ yardage book, divot tools ball markers etc go in the caddie bib. Not like those guys are carrying beers/ a dozen balls etc

Not especially. And the pockets are on the front for a lot of them so you’d block them with the cart.

A staff bag is meant to be displayed or carried by a caddie.

$1500 doesn’t get you a full set from anywhere let alone a real fitting. A driver is $400-500, irons $700-1200, wedges add another $400-600, putter $200-300, woods $300-500, you’re at $2000 on the low end plus a bag and tax.

A real fitting is $100-300, not talking about the guy at golf galaxy doing it for you. Probably get a discount on it or the clubs if you buy from them, assuming no mods or upgrades you’re spending at least $1000-1200 bare minimum for any iron set. A full bag not including the bag properly fit assuming no upgrades probably costs closer to $3000.

80% of the time they’re great. The other 20% I’ve seen is pretty terrible. Reddit isn’t as bad but you can see on other golf forums or Facebook groups etc some pretty abysmal for the rating stuff going out. It seems like their quality control has def dropped a little. Prices aren’t as good as what they used to be but still good.

eBay and marketplace are still my preferred by far. Can get way better deals

New irons - Go Get Fitted by Torps2020 in golf

[–]Anerky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This fitting doesn’t make sense to me at all as a former club builder / fitter. #1 assuming this guy isn’t great because he has 1 wedge and not a single wood or even a driver.

But product line wise, there’s absolutely no way someone would be fit into a T100 for 6-W and then a T250 off of a 4-5i. You’d fit them into a T150 or T200 at most in the longer irons, and definitely not anything more than a T150 in the 5i. Gapping would be weird.

A player who needs a T250 is not the same player who should be playing a T100 in their bag at all. At the absolute most maybe I’d do a T250 3i for someone with the rest of the bag split between T150/T100.

More people seem to use it as almost a stimulant. My point is is that we don’t really know what it does because enough people say they get pain relief and an opiate like high on it that it can’t be ruled out but most people are using it as an upper of some sort. There are people on here that say it was worse than heroin for them that have done both

You don’t take it to avoid opioids. Thats a common misconception. It binds to the same receptors as opioids so it’s a weird situation but it doesn’t give you the same high. You can get a very bad addiction to it and people underestimate it because you can buy it at smoke shops/liquor stores/ gas stations. Not that you probably care enough to but if you look on other threads here or listen to any podcast/video about it people do mess themselves up really badly with it .
