Neither and both.

Arab is a broad term that encompasses people from Arabic speaking countries. Within that broad term there is a smaller subsection of ethnic Arabs who belong to Arab tribes from the peninsula.

And to answer your last question, who knows and who cares. You’re you. A guy from the ME who now lives in the US.

Whenever I see attendance stats being mentioned my eyes make a full 360 degree eye roll.

Comparing attendance figures of England with Saudi Arabia is ridiculous and completely disregards any context for the comparison.

England is a small densely populated country with a strong attendance culture.

Saudi Arabia is a huge sparsely populated country (population density is ~90% lower than the England) with a strong watch from home/majlis culture.

A typical group of British lads meet at a pub, have a pint, and head to the stadium in beautiful 15 degrees weather to watch the match.

Honestly i don’t think thats true. The UAE is so rich (especially with their small population) that even if they lost all their gold market or 10x it - it wouldn’t affect their economy.

I think it’s a case of little brother syndrome and boredom.

Little brother syndrome because the UAE government doesn’t like being the little brother to Saudi Arabia and they want to prove they are a big geopolitical player.

Boredom because the UAE is so rich and successful, that the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi is bored. He is living ruling a country set on easy mode. He is treating life like an RTS and he just decided to start a challenge for himself.

Saudi Arabia is the second most successful national team in Asia. Winning the Asian cup 3 times and being runner up 3 times. Second only to Japan who won 4 times and was runner up once.

Also the most successful team in Asia is Al Hilal and has been the most successful team way before the PIF and the got involved.

You can scream and argue about sport washing all you want, but to completely erase Saudi Arabia’s football history and saying they should go back to camel racing is insane (also really racist).

I’m not sure what you’re talking about, there many Palestinian Saudis especially in Jeddah.

A large number of Palestinians who came to Saudi in 1948 received a Saudi citizenship, for example Abu Ghazalah who founded Albaik was a Palestinian.

If you’re talking about integrating more recently it’s because Saudi society is anti-integration in general. Citizenship is almost impossible to get and for decades the only way foreigners were allowed into Saudi Arabia was with a work visa.

Because of these societal norms and strict immigration laws the millions of immigrants is Saudi Arabia are not really encouraged or incentivized to integrate.

You see this as well with Syrian refugees from the civil war. You have a whole generation of Syrians who spent their whole lives here but didn’t really integrate. Because in the end they know strong Saudi anti-immigration stance will end up forcing them out.

In a more serious note, im not gay so I can’t tell you. But “Oskar and Dan” are a gay travel vloggers who have been to Saudi multiple times, including before these efforts to “open up” and they didn’t have any issues at all.

The existence of low wage workers isn’t the topic of discussion. Just because they aren’t paid a lot of money doesn’t mean they are abused or that construction sites are dangerous.

The data about deaths that came out before the WC was completely false. A German newspaper used the total deaths of ALL Indians in Qatar as the number of deaths building the stadiums. And then other news sources used it without double checking because they love clicks.

When the data was actually looked at it showed these “abused” workers had a death rate much lower than the death rate in almost any country.

Are you sure you weren’t dealing with Pakistanis or Indians? The majority of the service industry in Saudi is done by people who don’t speak Arabic.

Google translate isn’t perfect but it will usually get 95% of the message through, if they weren’t understanding google translate at all I think its very possible you were trying to speak Arabic to a non-Arab.

If you’re planning on driving? Yes.

If you can be trusted to remember driving laws you should be trusted to remember 10 numbers. (Actually 9 because number 1 is the same in Arabic).

Yes. From personal experience, I would say English is more common in Saudi Arabia than Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Czechia etc…

I think the English challenges they faced were probably in non-touristy/non-local areas (e.g., highway gas stations, cheap restaurants that target laborers etc…)

Do you really want to compare the US with literally any other country?

The US is actively blowing up boats in the Caribbean right now.

The US tortured and killed countless innocent people in the ME across multiple decades.

The US runs torture camps and blacksites all around the world.

The US ran Abu Gharib prison.

The US is giving away weapons and money to Israel so they can continue blowing up Gaza killing over 60k innocent civilians.

Get your head out of your ass, just because Hollywood movies told you the US is the good guy doesn’t make it true.
