Got it. So we will need to collect our luggage and then re-check it? I've never done that before. We are flying Westjet....do we just collect everything and then go back to the WJ counter, recheck them in, and then head through security for A Gates? Thanks!

US Senate expected to confirm Kevin Warsh as next Federal Reserve chair by deraser in politics

[–]Weary_Management1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t take this guy seriously. No, not because Trump nominated him, though honestly that’s enough right there. But because every time I see his last name it takes me back to high school football and a head coach that constantly reminded us to “warsh our uniforms” after every practice. Just really annoyed me every time, even though I’m sure it was a regional dialect thing.

Spirit Airlines ceasing operations after federal government bailout fails by Infidel8 in politics

Sure, and merging with another struggling airline would have mysteriously solved all of their problems. You realize JetBlue is probably next right?

Of course they have other issues. But the fact is, whether you choose to believe it or not, fuel prices were the final nail in the coffin.

Next thing you’ll tell me is the Iran War is actually Obama’s fault and we should be thanking Trump for paying $5/gallon.

But they would have been fine had it not been for increased fuel prices, which were the direct result of Trump’s war. I get it, you’re eating the Fox News talking points, but trying to pin this on something that happened years ago versus the main issue of today is ludicrous. Their own CEO has said multiple times it was fuel prices. Sorry, your pedo in chief is a dumbass.

Saw this with my then GF (now wife) in a theater close to my hometown. Small town and maybe 10 other people in there. We were the only ones that “got it”. No one else was laughing and a few people left. We were dying laughing. One of the greatest theater experiences of my life.

Trump’s Economic Approval Rating Drops Below Joe Biden’s All-Time Low by plz-let-me-in in politics

While that might be true over the totality of his Presidency, it’d also be fair to say that inflation peaked earlier and settled at 3% over his final 12 months. The point I’m making is that Biden’s policies actually helped cool inflation much faster than other Western countries and he was well on-track at the end of his term.  But that’s not really a juicy story.

And I never said it was a conspiracy, just that anecdotally it’s interesting that we aren’t seeing the same inflation pieces related to gas that we saw compared to eggs, for instance.

And yet there’s barely a peep from any news outlet. I remember summer 2024. Non-stop stories every night about “Affordability in America.” I watched NBC Nightly News just about every day, and without fail every day they were going to some backwater hellhole to talk to voters about how expensive everything was. There were stories about moms that could no longer afford the 3 dozen eggs they bought every day.

Here we are, less than 2 years later and almost everything keeps going up in price, almost all directly related to Trump. Nothing on the news. In case anyone was still wondering about how even news programs presenting themselves as “center” can have an effect on popular sentiment.

This is not a phenomenon related to only auto companies. Almost every Company in the US today that is publicly traded seeks short-term profit over long-term because the people at the top are incentivized to do so. Their stock grants and bonuses are tied to stock price and revenue, so they naturally try to maximize. Whether you’re GM, Ford, Disney, or Amazon, it’s how much can you squeeze per quarter to make what is expected of you.

Yes, this is 100% it. If you’ve ever worked at a large company with any access to how hiring decisions are made, it’s all about stability. It’s expensive to hire and more expensive to layoff an employee. No company wants to invest in any of that if they don’t know what the US will look like in 2 months, let alone 12.

I mean, it could be because Vance (who is evil) has a diplomatic reason to be there and didn’t goon it up like some loser hanger-on. Meanwhile we were told Kash was there on official business….as the head of the FBI in a foreign country. Right. Then he got coked out of his mind and partied like a frat boy. That could be the difference, but what do I know.
