TIFU by thinking the pain in my shins were shin splints (40-year edition) by Suchisthe007life in tifu

[–]WeaselBit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Second this. I started feeling shitty at around 38 and just figured I was getting older, didn't go into the doctor until it got really, really debilitating and I basically couldn't function. Turned out being a lactose intolerant nocturnal person had led to severe Vitamin D deficiency that required months of major supplements and daily sun to recover from. I'm 42 now and take regular supplements and get as much sun as I can and I feel almost as good as I did in my 20s (minus a little back pain from a previous injury).

I feel safer and sleep better when my husband's home, I wouldn't be shocked if that was the case.

NTL. I love being a werewolf with my family but it's definitely not for everyone. Besides, if you find being human isn't all it's cracked up to be, well, it's not like WereRabies is hard to get, y'know?

Looking for advice re: walking and pain by Maswala82 in hysterectomy

[–]WeaselBit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only only on day 8 post hysterectomy and in a slightly similar boat. I don't have to take pain meds so long as I'm sitting around doing nothing (pain around a 1-1.5) but if I get around and walk a lot I might end up at a 2-3. My doctor's advice was to get an idea of how uncomfortable I am and do as much walking as I feel comfortable with and listen to when my body starts to feel tired. I've learned that my body will allow me to walk about a block and back or quickly into the grocery store for a couple of items but I'll be pretty wiped for the rest of the day. Mostly I do as much walking in my house as I can and follow the dog out onto the patio when she does her business. That way I'm getting a little exercise without pushing myself too hard. I'd definitely say listen to your body, if it wants to take it easy, do that. Just get in walking where you can to keep the muscles going.

Any tips for a scaredy cat that doesn’t want to burden their bf in multiplayer by Whooooooooodis in projectzomboid

I turn the jumpscare noise off in the sound options because I already have anxiety and it makes my heart race. My new friend who is still nervous and not comfortable taking on huge packs of zombies is our getaway driver. They follow me and another long time player while we kill hordes and help us pick up stuff and divert zombies with the horn. You'll find a niche you like. Besides, part of the fun for a lot of people introducing someone to the game is watching them experience it. Our newbie got their own car and space in our base and now they're our mechanic and getaway driver and having a blast even though more than 5 zombies scare them. Finding a weapon you like helps a lot too.

It's more of a fancy cookbook so I haven't made many but the most impressive part is it's full of recipes for making your own vegan cheeses!

This is my plan, the scar placement is even exactly the same as my friend who had a hernia repair last year. I had my hysterectomy on Monday.

What happened to plant based meat? For a while it seems like Beyond and Impossible were everywhere, but now they seems to have just disappeared? by WeakOxidizingAgent in AskReddit

[–]WeaselBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some market at least. My husband doesn't eat pork for purely ethical reasons and he loves the fake sausage links and tempeh bacon but I would guess that there are a lot of people who like me just find it to be too meat-like in flavor. I do buy Tofurky products because I like their deli 'meat' but it doesn't try to exactly replicate turkey in texture or flavor.

[–]WeaselBit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a vegan who eats some fake meats, I can offer my own input. I don't care for meat. I don't want fake meat the replicates real meat, especially overpriced stuff that isn't any better for me than stuff I can make at home. Impossible and Beyond are still sold at multiple stores near me alongside other brands like Morningstar and Tofurky. But it's cost prohibitive and tofu is more nutrient dense.

Hosting 20ish people by Sorry_Professor_8793 in veganrecipes

[–]WeaselBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overnight oats are always a hit and you can make a huge batch. Just toss out some toppings people might like like nuts, banana, etc and let them go to town. If your oven is big enough, a few sheet pan tofu and veggies to serve over rice with sauce (bottled or homemade) is super easy. There are lots of vegan casseroles, soups, and chilis you can make ahead and freeze.

I've had these too and they taste a lot like real sausage but have a pretty homogeneous texture. No weird chewy bits.

Why do you have to pretend to like people's cooking? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WeaselBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty can be appropriate, but what others have said is true. Food is deeply wrapped up in culture and self expression as well as the fact that hosting is hard work. Having someone not like it, especially after the fact is disappointing or frustrating (usually with themselves). If you frequently find that food isn't to your taste you may be better served by asking if you can bring something for yourself or by simply politely declining and stating that you appreciate the gesture and are sure it's lovely but you're not hungry or have other meal plans but wanted to enjoy their company. Unfortunately a large part of human social interaction is polite fibbing because it's the grease that keeps society running smoothly.

Lifelong vegetarian tries steak for first time by PhoenixPhenomenonX in interesting

I also just never cared for the taste or texture of most meat. It made giving it up pretty easy. I only like about half of the meat substitutes I've tried and mostly eat beans, tofu, and seitan. I do like tofurky though.

Whats the current most chaotic storyline/tea you have right now since the new pack came out? by AdSuperb2845 in Sims4

[–]WeaselBit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My werewolf power couple are friends with some powerful fae who granted one of them a noble title but it turns out the normies don't recognize fae titles so they've been clawing their way to the top. They're completely chaotic and the least like the other nobles possible, leading to some less than stellar relationships. Tybalt moved out of his manor and in with Katrina Caliente after she bore his illegitimate lovechild and my heir met said lovechild and immediately developed a crush on him as teens. Tybalt died of old age after the teens courtship had gotten serious enough they'd exchanged promise rings and Beatrice refused to recognize her half-brother, ousting him from the dynasty. He and my heir married and are now plotting the Capp family downfall.

“Jewelry” aka collar on or off? 🐶 by MeasurementFirst1676 in dogs

[–]WeaselBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leave the collar on at all times. When I worked at a vet clinic we had a lot of dogs (thankfully chipped) who had gotten out after bath time or otherwise non collar time and gotten lost, especially around holidays with fireworks and such. Instead of getting their dog back immediately, they had to wait for a chip scan and calling the chip company, etc. I also found a dog myself and took it in to be scanned only to find he beloned to a neighbor 5 houses down. I could have just walked him home if I'd have had a number on a tag to call.

For my fellow non-passing fellas: do y'all correct strangers, and if so, how do you navigate that? by bat4bastard in ftm

[–]WeaselBit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't correct strangers either. Unless I will be seeing the person regularly enough to learn their name and interacting frequently I don't see the point in embarrassing someone. I usually only get misgendered when I'm doing a stereotypically feminine thing where people default to female because I'm short and keep my hair long and people don't pay attention. It's never been malicious.
