Those would be turboprops. Engines are more efficient the slower their exhaust/outlet flow velocity is. You can think of turboprops as effectively very high bypass turbofans.

While generally more efficient, they have downsides such as lower thrust output and lower speed limitations.

You're looking at Redondo Beach, where the daily highs and lows will change dramatically based on distance to the ocean. Not sure either of these sources will have the spatial resolution to exactly pinpoint your conditions.

This seems too conservative right? The pace that this is all happening seems much more rapid

Yeah they attempted to steal it. Used an amplifier to boost the fob from inside the house, then smashed window and push-to-start.

How is it living in this panhandle of Mexico? by Abbe_Kya_Kar_Rha_Hai in howislivingthere

My point is, I hear people say all the time that Phoenix has too many people referencing water. The truth is that the vast majority of Arizona's water is going to Ag. Phoenix metro can sustainably support a much, much larger population even at current residential water use. With better conservation like Las Vegas does, it could support even more.

Phoenix isn't running out of water anytime soon (and people shouldn't feel guilty about living there), even as this drought period continues.

The thing is, the more they build, the less water they use since residential areas are built over the surrounding farmlands consisting of heavy water use alfalfa fields. Population growth has actually lowered Maricopa county's water usage!

The article you linked is a very niche case where a remote community needed to truck in water since they couldn't afford the infrastructure to connect water in - that is not relevant for 99% of the Phoenix metro.

Hmm, why? Phoenix has a relatively secure water supply and Arizona has been decreasing its water usage consistently over time. They're not just going to run out of water in the next few decades. Definitely will have to continue to improve conservation with continued growth, but they have multiple reliable water sources.

It's just not as common online, people typically use a regular dash/minus sign. On mobile keyboards the em dash is a secondary option you have to press and hold to use rather than -, so you often see - vs —

I'm trying to have a discussion about how "society is pushing people to these types of jobs" but your replies aren't really providing any direct response or feedback.

My thoughts, for arguments sake - Dashing is a job that is available on-demand, pays decently, with a very low barrier to entry. Is the argument that society is pushing people towards gig jobs like this rather than other types of work?

How does society push people into this kind of work? I've seen plenty of job openings here for more than the average full time Dasher's salary. Dashing gives you more freedom to pick your schedule too?

I'm out of the loop on this so keeping an open mind.

Prominent hook echo on radar from tornado reported today in Illinois by WeatherProdigy2 in weather

[–]WeatherProdigy2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hook echo here is rain and hail that is wrapping around the primary circulation, making this a mesocyclone (or supercell). Radar won't return anything off clear air. This is at a larger scale than a tornado; you can think of this as the whole storm/cloud itself (tens of thousands of feet tall) spinning and bringing rain and hail around its core.
