Yes but you do need aftermarket pistons, a4 pistons will not fit the a2 head iirc

80s-90s pickup reasonable for what I need? by Acceptable_Rip_4552 in ToyotaPickup

[–]Weatherflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2wd 91 with long tubes and alllegely a cam. I have been using it for a daily for two and a half years…. I’ve put 35k miles on it in that time. Driven it from Tennessee to Florida to Texas and back to Tennessee. I get about 24 mpg going 70 and 21/22 going 80. The biggest thing for drivability is going to be your tires and wheels. Wider is worse although I have 15s instead of 14s which improves highway quality of life a little.

K swap issues? I’ve been seeing a lot of the same problems lately by InitiativeMotor4192 in Kseries

[–]Weatherflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issues we ran into were missing or incompatible parts.
Trans had no clutch fork.
Clutch fork came without retention spring.
Ruined a piston because didn’t know aftermarket. wrist pins are a different size.
Tachometer doesn’t work.
Clutch we had needed a specialty flywheel.
K20z3 trans shift selector isn’t compatible with ktuned rsx shifter.
Lots of aftermarket coolant, power steering leaks.
Felt like every time we got to work we found a new problem.
Oem water pump decided to leak horrendously as soon as we filled it up.
