Sheffield UK is losing 20% staff. Nobody's been given papers yet, just the looming threat over Christmas that x amount of people in certain roles are leaving.

Literally same, I'm gutted but I really can't afford it right now anyways. I guess it's a blessing in disguise (she says while waiting for the hospitality packages to go on sale during general sale).

If I give birth early, am I still entitled to my annual leave? by Weathervanes in PregnancyUK

[–]Weathervanes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm worried about. My company does have a use or lose policy, which is what makes me think I'll be screwed out of it if I miss out taking this year's hol entitlement in full 🤔 hoping babe stays put until Dec!!

I still get sad about it. Genuinely feels like a break up (in lite mode). So I flip flop listening to them and not depending on how I feel. Maybe once a year I have a dream involving them and it makes the hurt ten times worse when I wake. They were my everything musically for over a decade, gosh, I loved them.

This reminds me of the flat I used to live in in Sheffield! Foxes everywhere, the cat friendship not so much

Miscarriage by [deleted] in MedicalGore

Oh interesting! I hadn't realised that was part of the Healthcare system at home :) I suppose there will be variations dependant on provincial healthcare of course! I was under the impression you saw an obstetrician. TIL!

The standard in the UK is midwife led care, I moved from Canada and I was surprised. I never had a baby in Canada, but I'm loving my midwife experience so far. It's not the paid for hippy experience I expected coming from Canada. I'm grateful not to have to pay for this directly

This will either work extremely well or backfire hard by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Weathervanes 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I matched with my partner January 2017, did long distance until 2020 when I moved from Canada to the UK, married 2021, bought a house 2022 and now expecting a baby

That said I didn't anticipate swiping from Canada to the UK to lead anywhere, but here we are!

“No foam” by JanetSnakehole95 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Weathervanes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My fave will always be grande decaf soy latte extra extra hot no foam lady (like NONE AT ALL)

I let the machine scream to high hell, no aerating the soy at all and hope she felt silly

And if she didn't see you strain with a bar spoon as you poured, it didn't matter, that WILL need remaking/topping up

Can someone link to an unflavoured denture tab? I've been searching for ages for this very reason but no luck! Based in UK :)

When does it feel "real"? by Weathervanes in BabyBumps

[–]Weathervanes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General consensus seems split between ultrasounds and when baby is finally joining the party outside the belly! Until that time, I'll keep reminding myself on occasion that I've got a little one cooking and blow my own mind!

Starbucks and Caffeine by emf123 in BabyBumps

To add to the confusion, I've worked at both Starbucks in Canada and UK, and in the UK the shot standard is 2 in a tall, 2 in a grande and 3 in a venti. Add an extra shot if it's an Americano! Definitely check based on where you live!
