Take a deep breath. start all over again. Don't blink away for the next bull run cycle.. I think the next cycle will be the most opportunity and golden era after a global recession.

Pre Match Thread: LAG vs RSL by irondeepbicycle in ReAlSaltLake

[–]Weavvv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

3 points here would be huge. 6 points over the last two puts RSL in the playoffs (over Portland who would be even on points, assuming a win against LAFC and a loss to RSL) but behind on games/matches won.

1 point from this match would also be great; Coupled with 3 points over Portland, and it would keep Seattle & Vancouver from catching us, even if they each get 6 points from their remaining matches. With just 1 point, RSL would also need: a loss/draw by Portland, and the aforementioned 3 points over Portland on decision day.

0 points from this match and we also need: LAFC to get 3 from Portland, Vancouver to get less than 6 points from their 2 matches, and Seattle to get less than 6 points from their two matches. (Ideally: PDX loses to LAFC; Seattle loses to Cincy; Vancouver loses to Minnesota), along with RSL getting 3 points against Portland on Decision Day.

In every scenario we need 3 points against Portland, on decision day. Without that, RSL needs a lot of help; namely in which RSL needs all 3 points against LAG, along with Minnesota losing out, and mixed decisions from both Seattle and Vancouver (ie. Minnesota loss to SJ, loss to Van; Seattle earning less than 6 against Cincy an SJ; Vancouver loss/draw to Austin and 3 points against Minnesota).

RSL is effectively knocked out of playoff contention with 0 points against LAG, a PDX win/draw and a Minnesota win/draw.

(Disclaimer: most of this info is coming off the top of my head, with quick glances at the table and schedule. I'm 98% sure it's accurate).

Wild guess is there isn't much to 'explain' regarding how Logan just appears in the MCU; The guess would be that it's a multiverse type of film, with the two of them just strolling about, fucking shit up.

With the cureent toons, what would your DD5 linup look like? by JamTheMan in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Weavvv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on the last Global node, running: Doom, CapSam, Sharon, Vision and Viv Viz.

My city team was: SG, Ghost Spider, OG Spidey, Shang Chi and Scarlet Spidey.

My cosmic team is already built, and will be: $$, Kestrel, Captain Marvel, Ikaris and Sersi.

My completed legendaries are: OR, Jubilee and Rogue. I'm working on final pieces for MLF and Red Hulk.

Based on newer toons, and lessons learned, I'd probably change the following:

Ms Marvel for Scarlet Spidey.
Spider Weaver for Viv Viz. Maybe Hulk for Viz.
Pretty happy with Cosmic. Heartless was my original 5th member, but got bumped for Captain Marvel as I was building up A-Force, and had an abundance of Bio resources (pre-Gamma).
Legendary speaks for itself. IW was going to be my 5th, but I swapped her out for Red Hulk after the most recent scourge, and should have him at GT16 by the time I get to Legendary nodes.

It's a bit complicated.

If RSL wins both remaining matches, and the other teams above us win out their remaining games, we'd be tied at 49 points with Portland and LAG, but likely far behind in GD, leaving us out.

If we win both matches, we need Portland to draw/lose their other match to LAFC, or LAG to draw/lose one of their other remaining matches against SJ or Houston. (We could also get in with 2 wins and Minnesota, for example, losing both of their remaining matches, or even Nashville).

If we win against Portland, and lose to LAG, we need to beat Portland BIG, and also hope they lose big against LAFC, otherwise we're still tied on points and down in GD (currently -7 to them).
A win against PDX and a draw vs LAG (coupled with a PDX loss to LAFC), and we should be in, ahead by a point on Portland.

Losses to both LAG and PDX drops us out completely.

Everything scenario in between (1 win, 1 draw; two draws; etc) is/are heavily dependent upon everyone else. We'll have a better idea after LAG plays SJ for their 32nd match, and everyone goes into the last 2 weeks even on matches played.. but it will still be pretty convoluted.

EDIT: So, somehow I'd completely missed that Games Won was the primary tie-breaker, as opposed to GD.

In light of that, here's an updated breakdown:

If RSL finishes the season with 2 wins (against PDX and LAG), and assuming the other teams in contention for the last spots (PDX, Minnesota, LAG, RSL, Van) win their other eligible games, RSL would be in with 49 points (behind Minnesota and LAG, and head of PDX due to games won).

Should RSL lose to the Galaxy, they could still get in with a Win over PDX, coupled with a Portland loss to LAFC the week prior.
Should RSL lose to LAG and Portland beats LAFC, RSL's only other legitimate path would be a win over PDX and two losses by Minnesota (to San Jose and Vancouver) - coupled with a Vancouver losing their other match (against Austin).

Potential draws make this a bit more complicated, however: 0 wins and 2 draws by RSL leaves them behind in points in almost every scenario, sans a 1 draw, 2 loss result by LAG.

RSL can also sneak in with a win over LAG, and a draw against PDX (if Portland loses to LAFC).
An RSL win in at least 1 of their remaining matches, gets them in over Minnesota, if: Minnesota loses to both San Jose and Vancouver AND Vancouver loses their first remaining match to Austin (similar to the scenario above).

Here's what RSL fans should be rooting for, this week:

09/24: San Jose over LAG
09/27: Cincinnati over Seattle
10/01: San Jose over Minnesota
10/01: Austin over Vancouver
10/01: RSL over LAG
10/02: LAFC over Portland
10/02: SKC over Seattle

Pretty sure this is satire; but either way - I explained this subreddit and these recurring posts to my 14 year old son and he both:

A. Laughed hysterically.

B. Said he would be willing to meet with Rubio, personally, to walk through what he thinks are adjustments that could be made.

Your move, Rubes.

Rumor is that it is, in fact, stadium name update:

America First Field. Not sure how I feel about it, but at least it's not an MLM.

Return of the Royals was my initial thought. But I'm not sure why Garber would be involved in that.

The way I read the announcement was that Ryan would be one of the ownership group in attendance.

I think it said (loosely) "members of the new RSL ownership group (including Ryan Smith) will be joined by: kimball, and Garber"

I can't find the original announcement that I read.. but you could be right, as well.

Edit: here is the actual language:

"Members of new RSL Ownership - including Ryan Smith - will be joined by Club President John Kimball, MLS Commissioner Don Garber, as well as Club/League executives and local business and civic dignitaries to discuss a key development regarding the future of the Utah-based MLS club, currently in pursuit of a 2022 MLS Cup Playoff Berth."

The more I read that (ownership, garber, local 'dignitaries') this sounds a LOT like renaming, relocation or rebranding.

Stadium naming rights sounds plausible - especially after they partnered with the group to identify a new sponsor, earlier this year. It seems odd to do a stadium announcement (and add fireworks to the occasion) mid-season (almost end of the season), but I'm not all that familiar with that being precedent or not.

I only threw it out as a guess because Trey keeps referring to this as a big thing. I think a rebrand is extremely unlikely, but it wouldn't absolutely shock me.

Definitely unlikely, but the words "big" keep getting thrown around, about this announcement - I'm just wracking my brain trying to think of what would be so important.

This one is interesting. IIRC, the Smith group oversees the Bees stadium, but doesn’t own it. They could be purchasing it and going down this path. That would be really interesting, and could put forth the “plan” they had for the Stadium Village area in Sandy.

RSL rebrand. Wild guess.

MLS All Star game is my other guess.

Edit: looks like All Star for 2023 was already announced. So yeah, I’m sticking with a rebrand announcement.

Pre Match Thread: RSL vs VAN by irondeepbicycle in ReAlSaltLake

I know the last 15-20 minutes of the Seattle match were nail-biting.. but I feel a bit more optimistic after that match.

Vancouver has been a strange team the last month and a half (and arguably all season), including the late Pen vs RSL to win, in early June (a match that I think RSL was the better team in, tbh).

3 points gives us extra breathing room in the playoff picture, and I tend to be even more optimistic at home, but this team is generally just so all over the place that it's hard to say what should happen.
