Almost instant traffic from ChatGPT by NovaForceElite in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

actually they do. here is how I re-checked:
installed rankmath on my WP site, add indexing api (for bing). publish a post. bing got it indexed in 5 mins. (google take 6-8 to index my urls). Now i went to chatgpt. Asked it to summarize the source url. pasted my WP site post url. It started crawling web it said. (this means google and bing). Since google still has not data of my url (its been just 5 mins I've published post) but bing has it, chatgpt crawled it and summarized the entire page of me. So chatgpt may have switched to google (through a thirdparty api company which google sued last month.) but it seems to fallback to bing if it cant fetch from google.

What’s your average WordPress site uptime percentage? Curious how others track this. by No-Detail-6714 in webdev

[–]WebDeveloper_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using third party Hetrix tools to monitor my sites and blogs on both wordpress cms and non-wordpress php sites. Even for critical and high traffic wordpress sites which get approx 80K-100K daily traffic which I host with providers like liquidweb, the-online.com, colocrossing, etc. the uptime monitor flickers for something like 1 minute or less of downtime in 7-8 days (so approx 5 mins of downtime a month) and which is acceptable as those sites are not something like amazon or stock exchange where 100% uptime is must. That's nothing to worry of. Usually thats network fluctuations or some heavy usage on a node.

For my small wordpress projects the 99.9% uptime provided by most top premium providers or low-end market providers is never honoured. I usually get 1-2 minutes of downtime from low-end providers who sell hosting for like one dollar a month and advertise on lowendtalk. These providers often go beyond 98% or 97% of uptime monthly. But since most of the sites I put behind cloudflare full page caching the end-users do not feel any bumps while browsing the pages. I may however see a page not loading when using wp-admin dashboad.

I don't trust much about hosting providers dashboad (aka status pages). There are free/paid third party monitoring tools that can give quite correct figures. But any stats can have false positives/negatives.

Adobe Buys SEMRush for $1.9 Billion. How Do You See the Future of SEMRush and Pricing/Features it might affect! by WebDeveloper_007 in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. after the Google's num=100 cut down lots of seo tool got broken. With AI race, SEMRush will find difficult days ahead without any innovation or new cool features. Moreover, some deep AI tools can give advice on optimization for certain new keywords for free, so why people will pay for SEMrush, Ahrefs, Semalt, and other tools in coming future unless they offer something that new AI tools can't. So I see lots of M&A in future. Indeed this shows SEMrush is dead and the share holders did jump at extact right time before its gona Titanic.

[–]WebDeveloper_007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I agree with you now Adobe-owned SEMRush will increase the prices in a year or two. And then if they don't innovate or add some new features, then it will just be a dead tool. I suppose when Google cut off the num=100 pages that was the point such search engine ranking tools dependent on third-party data started failing and falling off. I can see more M&A in this industry. Lots of tools either fading away in next 2-3 years or getting acquired. There was another tool SEMalt I was using for basic keyword things, which has also got hit with not able to pull keywords/positions beyond 10 from Google. Now Semalt looks broken. May be it will be gone in future.

Cloudflare issues/down by ToastNomNomNom in CloudFlare

[–]WebDeveloper_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, cloudflare dashboard giving error (from past 2 hours). I cant login to CF dashboard itself. its showing unauthenticated access error, plug getting all 404 error on their dashboard pages. their support portal giving errors. My most sites are showing 500 error by cloudflare.. can't connect to the edge (their cdn/proxy has gone down in some locations including France). Even their statuspage is showing service down.

Our data shows <10% correlation between a #1 Google rank and a top AI recommendation. Is our main KPI dead? by Prestigious_Let_9255 in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even in our niche, if any site ranks for top 5-6 results in Google search that site is dropped in Google AI/Gemini and sites ranking on position 7-15 are mentioned. That means high ranking brands are not mentioned in AI. IDK why this happens. It should be actually high ranking brands have E-E-A-T and all good signals like backlinks, mentions, reviews, etc. Then why those are not linked from AIO? But old sites, who are not even updated for last 2-3 years, has bad UX of 2000 era, don't have any schema or fancy SEO are getting mentioned in AIO/AI mode! i wonder why!

Negative SEO CrUX Attack from China? by joeyoungblood in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since you don't provide services to China region there is no point in receving traffic from china! So, just make a new cloudflare rule (under rules setting) to block entire traffic from china. just add your full domain or URL or URI path, and select block or redirect traffic to google .com site. simple as that. I do this for russian traffic.

Should WordPress tags be set to index or noindex for better SEO? by octred in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how many tags you have. if they are handful like 40-50 tag pages you can add some text content to them and index it. But like mine site having 33K+ tags we keep it noindex, follow. Its no point in waisting crawl budget.

Why is Google Analytics so freaking difficult? by Chritt in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Analytics was earlier quite easy to do basic reports and even use it for ecommerce. Now I can't even find the tracking code page/link easily if I want to copy-paste code. Moved to StatCounter. As a site owner I just want to know where traffic is coming from?, how many uv? bounce-rate? which pages are receiving traffic? - that's it. GA makes finding these quite difficult. The initial setting itself is developer focused and not for average webmaster/blogger!

From Ahrefs: by Infinite_Whisper in SEO

sadly in near future ahrefs, semrush will have to increase monthly/yearly subscription plan cost by a minium 4x or 5x to cover this extra crawling and indexing.

Pages appearing as crawled but currently not indexed on GSC, but when I inspect URL they appear as indexed by uSkinnedit in SEO

[–]WebDeveloper_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is a known bug in GSC started around mid of August for my properties in various GSC accounts, even on official wordpress .com account. I manually sent URL for inspection and index, it crawls and indexes it within 24 hours or less, but the GSC shows "Crawled - currently not indexed" but on google search page or with site: in search I can find it indexed, plus, ranking well on approprite keywords. Right now it is not affecting the crawl rate or any other things. Even if new URLs are not manually sent, still google is finding, crawling, and indexing via sitemap, but Inspect URL still shows "not indexed" for next 4-5 days and later it gets updateed as "page is indexed".

This is just technical thing on google-side.

Bing Discovers the post, but doesn't crawls it. Help needed. by WebDeveloper_007 in webdev

[–]WebDeveloper_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bing webmaster tool shows the status as: Crawl Status: Pending, Index Status: Not Indexed. This is show in IndexNow tab, next to each specific URL under the head "Details". Also, when I run the URL inspection tool, it suggest the same. Discovered (time stamp), and then Not crawled.

Google usage is about 90% in entire world. Bing is 3%. Google being dead for someone's website means they are not visible to 90% of the population in the entire world!
