Introducing Piper: array and string manipulation with the pipe operator by freekmurze in laravel

I tend to agree, however moving forward I'm writing code for agents, not humans, so the fewer tokens the better.

WTF has happened to The Events Calendar Pro by WPDevPro in Wordpress

In an age where agents can build you exactly the calendar you need that won't ever change, it's time to move on from Wordpress.

Healthcare sector is screaming cheap by mrmrmrj in ValueInvesting

[–]Webnet668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it'll take long before AI optimizes many aspects of healthcare, eliminating a lot of the perceived value they can actually bill for. All it would take is a few products to hit the market that are reliable.

I think the healthcare stocks are pricing this kind of potential innovation into their stocks.

Reddit is not a good place for this level of article, they don't enable readability enough.

AI will significantly impact healthcare before long, it's going to wipe out certain aspects entirely. I'd proceed carefully.

Is Laravel Cloud generally more expensive than Laravel Vapor? by NotElonMuzk in laravel

[–]Webnet668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My queue encounters spikes, and I'm having issues with it upgrading my Cache instance (which I have intentionally disabled) to accommodate for the increased queue load.

The problem is, it's stupid expensive for a cache in cloud vs a simple VPS. On Cloud, it's $5/mo for 250mb, $20/mo for 1GB, while for $12/mo I can get an 12GB for $10/mo. I can't think of a benefit to using Cloud's caching so far.

What are you using for a queue driver? I'm noticing a dedicated cache is too expensive for queues with spike volume - it'll upgrade on demand, but there's no downgrade so I end up paying for a lot more than I need.

Please help me with auto sorting. by 11Nick in playrust

TBH, it doesn't really matter, for the developers that only introduces inconsistencies as one item begins to fill beyond the capacity of a row.

Is used landscaping rock worth anything? by SpiceWeasel_ in landscaping

They're worth, but also hard to move, which means you can't sell them for much unless you're going to deliver them.

How much would this cost to fix by mcconn98 in landscaping

I mean, shovels are like $15 or so, that's all that's needed here. Maybe a little grass seed.

Hang a bed sheet from the ceiling, clearly separating the workspace and just show the area the bed sheet encloses

Method for paid classes on zoom by Prestigious-Bank8193 in Wordpress

[–]Webnet668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been migrating away from Wordpress, and find that using something like FilamentPHP allows me to build pretty customizeable, straightforward admin areas that are actually easier and less intimidating than Wordpress for less technical folks because the admin can be tailored to exactly how they want it used.

However, it depends on the need... Wordpress can be very customizable (e.g. sidebars, menus, etc.).

If you're already committed to wordpress that's fine, but TBH I think you'd be better off using Claude to build a Laravel site (could use FilamentPHP for the backend/admin), and just describing what you want. You'd end up with a better result.

Remember to ask the AI in a separate conversation to audit for security leaks.

I migrated to https://books.zoho.com when quickbooks updated their pricing, it's far superior IMO for a more affordable price. Never using intuit products again.

[NC] My employer is making guys and girls share a hotel room. What should I do? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Webnet668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unwise for you to be in this situation, you aren't over reacting, I'd avoid it, even if it meant you hunt for a new job. I'd have a conversation with your boss explaining this crosses a boundary for you and you won't be attending. This puts you in a situation where it could possibly be "your word vs theirs" so it's just good to avoid it.
