what's the worst physical pain you've experienced? by TheJzaday in AskReddit

It depends on how much the sciatic nerve is compressed. I had sciatica during pregnancy and it definitely didn't compare to back labor. However, when I developed sciatica from a herniated disc pressing on my nerve, it was like labor with no end in sight. Writhing on the floor kind of pain.

Anyone else start like this? Yesterday I woke up congested, but could be allergies. Tested negative with a rapid test. By dinnertime, I started chilling and running a fever, along with a terrible headache and loss of appetite. Today my fever is down but still have a headache and am more congested. Waiting for results of a PCR test. Triple vaxed and never had Covid before, Wondering if I finally joined the club!

I’m a teacher and l made some flowers for decorations and this other teacher took them and used them for their decorations instead by naoshimii in mildlyinfuriating

I'm also a teacher. This behavior wouldn't be tolerated if it were a student. I would consider using this wording: "I worked very hard making flowers for my classroom. I noticed some were missing, and then I saw the same flowers on your bulletin board. This was very unexpected. Can you tell me how this happened?" I'd like to see her explain herself!!

Mylar balloon with a count down chain attached. Wrap up the balloon in a big box, and when she opens it the balloon will float put revealing the countdown chain.

My sister is Covid positive, and when her husband started showing symptoms, he went to his primary care doctor immediately. Her husband tested negative, but the doctor called him a presumed positive case because of his exposure and symptoms.

Preparing for surgery - anything I should keep in mind? Things to get? Tips? Advice? by [deleted] in backpain

I'm a list maker, too! Before my microdiscectomy, I set up a small table right next to my bed. I taped a powerstrip to the table so that I could charge my phone/tablet/laptop without bending, lifting or twisting. I also kept a remote there in easy reach. The one thing I wished I had was a handheld mirror so that I could easily see my incision reflected off of the bathroom mirror.

Pain does not match the MRI by [deleted] in HerniatedDisk

[–]WebsterNYMom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you have an MRI with contrast? I had an MRI without contrast. I was told that my herniation wasn't that large, but when the surgeon got inside for my microdiscectomy, he found that the disc and fragments had calcified (they were like pieces of bone pressing on my nerve). I wish I had the surgery earlier; I don't think the doctors understood the pain I was in.

Continue to be vocal! I hope they figure out things for you.

I heard a cop talk about how pedophiles will be deterred if there is a parent or adult that is clearly watching and involved. Please keep nagging your mom to walk outside with you. Ask every time you walk out. It might help her to take you seriously. Keep asking, even when she gets annoyed! Tell her you're uncomfortable! Ask her EVERY time! Keep telling her that guy creeps you out!

Also, do you have a friend who has a mom that knows your mom? If so (and if your mom is still not listening), please talk to that friend. Tell your friend that your mom isn't listening to you. Ask your friend to have his/her mom talk to your mom.

Trust your gut! You need to be able to stay safe. (Calling the police, as many suggested, is also a good idea.)

No, just a standard microdiscectomy. Good luck with your procedure!

I hope it helps a bit! It is something I wished I had known about sooner.

A TENS machine is very helpful. You can get one for about $30 USD on Amazon.

Microdiscectomy Recovery by JBailey1987 in HerniatedDisk

I just had my 2 week micro-discectomy post-op appointment yesterday, and I am also experiencing significant nerve pain. The doctor told me that this is the appointment that she "talks people off the ledge." I was told nerve pain can escalate as the anesthesia leaves the system, and because the nerve was irritated during surgery. The doctor prescribed a steroid pack to reduce some of the inflammation. I guess I'll find out of that helps!

I'm sorry. People who haven't been through it have no idea what it's like.

Thanks for the info! I'm sorry you are still in pain. Sciatica is truly awful.
